Chapter 1303
Chapter 1303:
“Get lost! What’s a crazy woman doing here?” one of my guards barked harshly.
“Come any closer, and you’ll regret it. How dare you bother the prince?” another guard threatened.
The woman tripped and fell heavily into the mud. Struggling to lift her head, she looked up at me and pleaded, “Your Highness, please help me.”
In that moment, I froze.
That voice… that figure… how could she resemble Makenna so much?
Or was I just seeing things because of how much I missed her?
“Stop!” I shouted, my voice so loud it startled everyone, even me.
The two guards who had blocked the woman’s path immediately stepped aside. By then, the man chasing her had caught up.
When he saw my attire and the soldiers at my side, his demeanor shifted instantly to one of deference.
“Please forgive me for the disturbance, sir,” he said, casting the woman a hateful glance. “This woman is my wife. We just had a bit of a domestic spat, and I was only trying to bring her back.”
“He’s lying!” the woman cried, terror etched across her face. “I don’t know him. He tried to assault me.”
She looked directly at me as she spoke.
The more I studied her, the more certain I became that she was Makenna, even though she was covered in dirt and grime.
“Mak… Makenna?” I called out softly.
The woman blinked in confusion, showing no recognition of the name I had uttered.
Why did she resemble Makenna so much?

Could it truly be her?
“Get back here, you wretch!” the man growled impatiently, lunging to grab her.
Jett’s POV:
“Get away from her!” I bellowed, vaulting off my steed. My boot crashed into the man’s chest with ruthless force, sending him hurtling backward like a discarded ragdoll.
His body slammed against a tree with a hollow thud.
“Capture him!” I snapped, not bothering to spare him another glance.
At my command, two soldiers lunged forward, swiftly pinning the man to the dirt.
“Don’t believe that wench’s lies, sir!” the man protested, thrashing against their hold. A guard silenced him with a sharp strike to the back of his neck using the pommel of a sword. He crumpled like a lifeless beast.
I strode forward with urgent steps, halting before the woman. My hands shook as I gently cradled her face.
Her grime-covered face was ghostly pale, yet her beauty still struck me like a blade—those familiar arched brows, the slightly upturned nose, and lips that always seemed set in a determined line.
“Makenna… it’s really you…” My thumb brushed softly over the gash on her cheek, my throat tightening as if choked by an unseen weight. “I knew it… I knew you were alive…”
Her lashes flickered faintly at my words. Her wide, striking eyes held confusion and fear. “You… know who I am?”
