Chapter 1304
Chapter 1304:
Her question pierced my heart like a shard of glass.
Could she not be Makenna?
Then, a glimmer of silver caught my eye—a necklace gleaming faintly at her throat.
That necklace belonged to the Saint of the White Wolf Clan! It had once been Josie’s, but she had passed it on to Makenna.
It proved the woman before me was Makenna!
“Of course I know you!” I pulled her into my arms, holding her so tightly I feared I might break her. “You’re my Makenna…”
Her body stiffened like a board, trembling faintly in my embrace.
I lowered my head, pressing a kiss to her blood-crusted hair, my voice cracking. “I thought I had lost you forever… I won’t let you go again… never…”
Makenna’s expression remained dazed, as if struggling to grasp my words. She weakly pushed against my chest, tears cutting clean paths through the dirt on her face. “Thank you… for saving me…”
Before she could say more, a violent cough shook her frame. Blood sprayed across my shirt, and she slumped, unconscious, into my arms.
“Makenna!” My eyes widened in panic as I caught her limp form, my heart tearing apart.
“She’s my wife! You can’t…” The man pinned to the ground began thrashing and shouting again.
His words ignited a blaze of rage within me.
“Teach him a lesson!” I ordered sharply.
At my command, the soldiers’ fists descended on him like a tempest.
“Aaagh!” His screams echoed through the woods, sharp and pathetic, like a trapped beast. Even as he writhed, he spat venomous threats. “You’ll regret this! I’ll make you pay!”

In my arms, Makenna shivered slightly, her brows furrowing in pain. That small movement set my fury ablaze.
One of my guards slammed a boot into the man’s back, glaring down at him. “Open your eyes! The man before you is the second prince of the Wizard Clan!”
The man’s face froze, instantly turning ghastly pale. He scrambled to his knees, slamming his forehead into the mud. “Y-Your Highness! Have mercy! I didn’t know it was you… Please, spare me.”
I gazed at Makenna’s deathly pale face, the blood at her lips like a dagger in my chest.
When I spoke, my voice was cold as frost. “What’s your connection to her?”
“S-she was rescued by Kaya Collins from a little village called Cloverdale some time ago…” the man stammered, words tripping over themselves. “She’s been staying at Kaya’s place… I-I just thought she was pretty, so—”
“You dared lay a hand on her!” My voice cut through the air like a blade.
In my arms, Makenna seemed to sense my anger, curling closer to me in her unconscious state.
The man’s head dipped deeply as he begged, his voice quivering. “I was wrong! I’ll never do it again!”
I took a deep breath, suppressing the urge to end him then and there. “Make sure he can never harm another woman again.”
“NO! Your Highness, please!”
