Chapter 1279:

Leonardo crouched down to grab the scepter, his eyes wild with madness. “With this, I’ll crush the Wizard Clan and take control of the whole realm!”

After a burst of crazed laughter, he looked down at me with a wicked smile. Slowly, he pulled out a sharp sword and aimed it at me. “Makenna, thanks for bringing me the sacred artifact. Now, it’s your time to die.”

“No!” Dominic and Bryan screamed in pain and desperation. They threw every ounce of strength into fighting, the chains biting so deep into their skin that blood pooled beneath them, staining the ground a terrible red.

Leonardo lifted his sword high, the icy gleam of the blade stabbing straight into my vision.

I squeezed my eyes shut tight, bracing for whatever was coming.

Out of nowhere, a blinding white light burst forth from the scepter in Leonardo’s grip. The glow was so fierce that everyone instinctively shut their eyes.

When I nervously peeked again, the scepter hovered in the air. The ancient runes on it seemed alive, flowing like water and radiating a heavy, suffocating power.

Makenna’s POV:

A primeval, fierce energy suddenly burst from the scepter and surged through my entire body.

My eyes narrowed sharply, and in an instant everything around me was drenched in a chilling blue light.

“Ah!” Leonardo screamed like a man possessed as the sacred artifact’s force blasted him several feet away, slamming him hard against the earth while he spat blood.

I was lifted off the ground against my will, and shadowy figures of enormous wolves materialized around me. They shimmered in icy blue, their eyes flickering with eerie, cold flames. When those wolf spirits revealed themselves, the air grew bitterly cold, and frost crept swiftly across the ground beneath us.

“What… what’s going on? Run… run!” a soldier panicked, staring at his armor as ice crystals spread across it. He tried to retreat but found his boots frozen to the ground.

“No one’s getting away! Grab Makenna! Get her now!” Leonardo scrambled to his feet, shouting wildly.

At that moment, the chains holding Dominic and Bryan grew brittle from the cold and snapped with loud, sharp cracks.

Once free, they shifted back into their human forms, staring at me in disbelief as I floated above the ground. It was clear they had never imagined the sacred artifact held such power.

A few soldiers, fearless despite the sight, charged at me with spears raised, but they froze in place just three steps away. Their bodies hardened into ice faster than the eye could follow, becoming statues with terrified faces locked forever in their final expressions.

“Run!” The remaining soldiers threw down their weapons and bolted in sheer terror.

But the ice-blue wolf spirits were faster than any of them.

The ghostly shapes streaked through the air like bolts of lightning, cutting down the fleeing men one after another. Each was trapped, their terrified faces frozen in place.
