Chapter 1280
Chapter 1280:
Leonardo’s face drained of all color. Stumbling back, he whispered in shock, “This… this can’t be real…”
The last soldiers quickly hauled him to his feet and fled down the mountain, not daring to glance back.
As I watched them vanish into the distance, the immense power inside me suddenly began to fade.
“Ah!” A burning, sharp agony ripped through my body, pain shooting through every bone and muscle. I collapsed hard onto my knees.
Glancing down, I saw a web of icy blue fractures spreading across my skin, as if I were cracking from the inside out. Every breath felt like swallowing shards of ice, stabbing deep within. My strength was draining fast.
“Makenna!” Dominic was the first to reach me. His trembling hands cradled my face, his eyes wide with fear. The heat from his touch made me realize how frozen I had become.
Bryan dropped to one knee beside me, frost still clinging to his hair. “Makenna, what’s happening? Why do you look so drained?”
I clenched my jaw and forced myself upright, though my legs felt like lead. “Don’t worry about me… Go after him… You have to stop Leonardo…”
Dominic opened his mouth to argue, but I pushed him aside with every ounce of strength I had left.
Wobbling to my feet, I pointed toward the path Leonardo had taken. “Hurry, don’t let him get away!”
They exchanged a quick glance, then finally made their decision.
Bryan gathered the remaining soldiers and ordered, “Amon, look after Makenna.”
Dominic gave me a long, meaningful look. “Wait for me to come back.”

Amon stepped forward, steadying my unsteady frame. “Miss Dunn, are you okay? You look really pale.”
“Follow them…” I whispered weakly. The icy blue cracks spread further over my skin, but I couldn’t allow myself to fall—not yet.
Makenna’s POV:
We chased Leonardo relentlessly until he found himself cornered, a deep chasm yawning just behind him.
The wind howled at the edge, lashing my face with its sharp, icy bite. Leonardo looked a mess, clinging to the rocky cliff for balance. His crown was long gone, and his once-grand battle cloak hung in tatters, torn by thorny branches.
Out of nowhere, the low blast of a horn echoed in the distance, and clouds of dust rose on the horizon.
Leonardo’s eyes lit with sudden hope. “At last! Our backup is here!”
Before long, the lead horseman hurled a poisonous gas bomb straight at us without hesitation.
“Watch out for the poisonous gas!” Bryan shouted urgently.
Amon reacted swiftly, shoving me to the ground.
The bomb exploded nearby, releasing a thick, green fog that spread rapidly through the air.
Several soldiers failed to escape in time, inhaling the deadly fumes. They clutched at their throats, convulsed violently, and collapsed lifeless to the ground.
