Chapter 1259
Chapter 1259:
My fingers clenched involuntarily, the grinding noise of the metal joints echoing through the room. This didn’t add up. Unless…
“One more thing,” the subordinate added, his voice dropping to a whisper. “A few days ago, I visited Leonardo. I overheard a soldier speaking to him. They mentioned that some people had broken into the Lycan royal palace’s secret chamber and stolen an ancient manuscript…”
An ancient manuscript?
My eyes widened in shock.
Could it be… the one that held the secret to the sacred artifact’s location?
A cold dread spread through me as a chilling thought began to form. Were those two who had left Marehelm on a quest to locate the sacred artifact?
Even if they weren’t, there was certainly some kind of link.
“Idiot!” I shouted, kicking the subordinate hard in the chest. The prosthetic arm cut through the air, gleaming coldly.
He grunted, stumbling back a few paces, but he remained silent, not daring to complain.
“I told you to watch Leonardo’s every move. How could you hide such important information from me?” I growled, my metal fingers tightening with a creak, as if they could crush the very air itself.
The subordinate threw himself to the floor, his forehead pressed hard against it. “It’s my fault! I thought… after all, what was taken was Leonardo’s personal possession, and it had nothing to do with you, so I…”
“Shut up!” I snapped, interrupting him. But when I saw his fearful, regretful face, my tone softened a little.
Forget it. At least this fool had acted out of loyalty.

I glanced down at my prosthetic arm. The dark steel shone coldly in the sunlight.
This arm… it was all because of that damn Makenna…
“Give the order,” I commanded, a wicked grin spreading across my face.
“Gather twenty of our best warriors.”
The subordinate looked up, clearly shocked. “Mr. Harrison, your injury…”
“Cut the crap!” I snapped, grabbing him by the collar, my metal fingers brushing against his throat. “Send a message to Prince Colt. Tell him I’ll take care of those two sneaky bastards myself.”
I let go of him and stormed out of the courtyard.
“Makenna, if it was really you who sneaked out of Marehelm… this time, you’ll pay for this in blood!” I cursed.
Makenna’s POV:
Dominic moved silently, almost like a ghost, as he trailed behind two drunk soldiers. With swift precision, he struck the backs of their necks. In an instant, they collapsed to the ground without making a sound.
I rushed forward, and we quickly stripped the soldiers of their armor.
“Get it on, fast,” Dominic murmured, passing me a suit of armor that still reeked of alcohol.
I pushed aside my disgust and put the armor on without wasting a moment. It was a little too big, hanging off me, but there was no time to fret about it.
We slipped into the supply convoy and made it past the checkpoint at the base of the mountain without a hitch.
