Chapter 1258
Chapter 1258:
As soon as we rounded the corner, Dominic, who had looked like he might fall any second, stood up straight, his eyes shining with a hint of mischief.
“Makenna, the way you called me ‘dear brother’ just now was so sweet,” he said suddenly, grabbing my wrist and pulling me into a tight alley. His warm breath tickled my ear. “Could you say it again, just a few more times?”
“You!” My face turned red as I lightly punched his chest. “Cut it out! We have more important things to do!”
Dominic laughed quietly, still holding my hand firmly.
We hurried down the narrow path, soon reaching the base of the werewolf mountains.
The sight in front of us made my stomach drop.
At the foot of the mountain, soldiers were everywhere, patrolling in groups of five. They were so alert that even a bird flying by would make them suspicious. We ducked behind the trees, watching closely.
When a group of soldiers strolled over, pulling carts behind them,
The carts were stacked high with supplies, likely headed for the soldiers up on the mountain.
Dominic and I shared a look, both of us grinning.
“Looks like…” I murmured, quietly gesturing toward the group, “we’ve found our way in.”
Dominic squinted, his eyes scanning the carts before locking onto the soldiers, who were clearly drunk.
He gave my fingers a light squeeze. There was a glint of mischief in his eyes. “Just like I imagined.”

After resting for a while, my arm had healed considerably.
The bright sunlight pouring in through the window caused a sharp pain to shoot through me.
I slumped on the sofa, gazing at the empty space where my left arm had once been. Makenna’s face flashed in my thoughts once more.
As I recalled the way she wielded her sword, the coldness in her expression as she chopped off my arm, the fury in my chest burned like wildfire.
At that moment, a couple of servants entered, carrying a prosthetic arm made of dark steel.
I squinted, observing as they slowly attached the prosthetic to me.
The chill of the metal against my skin made me flinch.
“Mr. Harrison, it’s all set,” one servant muttered, his gaze fixed on the floor.
I moved the mechanical fingers, hearing a soft clicking sound from the joints. The prosthetic was beautifully crafted. If you ignored its cold, metallic sheen, it could easily be mistaken for a real arm.
“Mr. Harrison!” A subordinate rushed in, breaking my concentration.
He knelt quickly, sweat dripping from his brow. “The scouts report that two figures were spotted sneaking out of Marehelm this morning.”
I jerked upright, the metal prosthetic hitting the wooden table with a sharp noise. “Who are they?”
“We don’t know who they are, but…” The subordinate paused. “Leonardo’s army has the area around Marehelm locked down, yet they still took the risk of sneaking out. It’s highly suspicious.”
