Chapter 1225
Chapter 1225:
My mother offered a small, knowing smile, just about to answer, when suddenly the dream came to an abrupt halt. I shot upright in bed, my forehead slick with cold sweat. The dream had seemed so vivid; I believed it was my mother guiding me from beyond.
The following day, I told everyone about my dream. As I spoke, they all looked at each other, their faces showing confusion and surprise. Bryan paused for a moment, hesitating before he spoke.
“There is indeed an old story among the werewolves,” he said slowly. “The records of the sacred artifact might be hidden in the werewolf clan’s ancient writings.” He paused again, adding, “But it’s just a legend, not something we can be sure of.”
Dominic, with a skeptical look in his eyes, nodded in agreement. “Yeah, after all, a legend is just a story. We’ve never actually seen the sacred artifact ourselves.” He warned, “If we act on impulse, we might just waste our time.”
I started to feel more anxious. “This is what my mother told me,” I insisted. “It has to be true!”
Clayton looked at me, then stood up with determination. “In that case, we should send someone to find those ancient texts. Whether the legend is true or not, we can’t afford to miss any chance.”
I nodded at him, grateful for his decisive attitude.
But then, a new obstacle appeared. The ancient texts of the werewolves were kept under lock and key, hidden in a secret chamber deep within the Lycan palace. No ordinary person could get past the defenses to reach them.
We all fell silent, the tension thickening in the air. The situation seemed hopeless until Alden spoke up.
“I’ll go. As a soldier, I know the werewolves’ territory well. I might be able to find some clues.”
I hesitated for a moment, feeling uncertain and unsure. Alden was one of the few I trusted completely. His skills and loyalty were unquestionable. He was reliable, and I knew he would do his best. But this mission was risky. One small mistake could cost him his life. The danger was real and immediate.

I glanced at Alden, noticing his firm, unwavering look. He appeared ready to face whatever lay ahead. I hesitated for a long moment, weighing the risks. Finally, after much thought, I gave in. I nodded in agreement, trusting him to handle it.
Makenna’s POV:
It was late at night, and my shoulder wound had already closed up on its own. Still, I couldn’t shake the uneasy feeling about Alden’s upcoming mission. After thinking it over for a long time, I chose to go to Alden’s room by myself.
When I pushed the door open, he was facing away from me, entirely focused on packing his luggage.
“Alden,” I whispered gently, my feelings a jumble of nerves and concern.
Upon hearing that, Alden spun around. When he recognized it was me, he flashed a grin, his sparkling white teeth showing.
“Makenna, what brings you here so late?” he asked with a hint of surprise.
He paused for a moment, apparently remembering my wound, and then hurried over to help me onto the nearby sofa. He shook his head, chiding gently.
“Makenna, you’re still hurt. You shouldn’t be wandering around like this.”
His concern made my eyes well up with emotion. I looked at his packed bags and, carefully holding his hand, I said,
“Alden, I came to check on you. I was worried you might forget something in your rush.”
