Chapter 1200
Chapter 1200:
Alice’s blush bloomed across her cheeks as she glanced down, a shy smile slipping through.
“You look very handsome too.”
A warm stillness settled in my chest as I watched them—contentment taking root in that quiet moment.
Still, beneath the joy, a current of tension stirred. The knowledge of what loomed outside—the ambush ready, the threat drawing near—refused to leave me in peace.
We couldn’t afford even a second of carelessness; staying sharp was the only choice.
As if reading my thoughts, Alden leaned in and murmured, “Makenna, what’s going on in that head of yours?”
Snapping out of my thoughts, I managed a faint smile.
“Oh, nothing. Just a few nerves.”
He gave me a sideways glance, a spark of mischief lighting his face.
“You’re thinking about your own wedding, aren’t you? Once this ends, I’ll personally throw you the most unforgettable wedding ever. Deal?”
“What kind of nonsense are you spouting, Alden?” I faltered briefly, and then broke into a laugh I couldn’t hold back.
Alden gave an exaggerated blink, pretending to be utterly earnest.
“I mean it, Makenna. I’ll make sure you’re the most stunning bride the world has ever seen.”
A derisive snort cut through the air as Bryan stepped in, his face twisted with disapproval. “You little punk. You think you’re worthy of marrying Makenna?”
Alden didn’t flinch. Tilting his chin up, he met Bryan’s glare with open defiance. “Your Highness, let’s face it—you’re not exactly fresh off the vine. Makenna deserves someone in their prime.”

Bryan let out a dry laugh, his exasperation plain, eyes narrowing with menace. “Alden, you really want me to kill you on the spot, huh?”
Feigning terror, Alden ducked behind me and clutched my arm, giving me a wide-eyed, pitiful look. “Makenna, you’ll protect me, right?”
Their ridiculous exchange drew a laugh from me. I shook my head with resignation and stepped between them, smiling despite myself.
“Alright, that’s enough out of both of you.”
Alden, still shielded behind me, didn’t hesitate to pull a face at Bryan. Bryan responded with another snort but chose to let it slide.
At that moment, Alice stepped up, her bouquet extended toward me. “Makenna, this is for you.”
I froze, blinking in confusion as I looked from her hand to her face.
“But Alice, that’s your bridal bouquet. Why give it to me?”
Her smile was soft but sure. “They say whoever catches the bouquet finds happiness. I want that for you, too.”
My eyes stung instantly. I reached for the flowers, my fingers trembling as I accepted them. My voice broke slightly. “Thank you, Alice… You must be happy. I’ll always be here for you.”
Alice nodded, her eyes shimmering as she pulled me into a gentle hug. “You too, Makenna.”
