Chapter 1199:

But Antoni stood unmoved, defiance burning in his eyes. That insolence—he wore it like armor now, ever since gaining the Wizard Clan’s backing.

He stepped forward.

“If you truly cared for your sons, Your Majesty, you wouldn’t send an army to storm their wedding—when you thought they were the grooms. Let’s not pretend this is anything more than strategy. They’re pawns to you—nothing more.”

The insult hit like a slap. How dare he?

I wanted to have his head right there and then, but I knew better. He was still useful. Too useful.

Antoni sensed my restraint—and pressed further.

“Don’t forget our arrangement.”

My hands clenched at my sides.

“I haven’t,” I growled. “You needn’t repeat yourself like some petulant child. When the time comes, Makenna is yours. Do what you will.”

A flicker of satisfaction glinted in his eyes.

“Excellent. I look forward to it.”

I turned away, unable to stomach him any longer. My gaze slid to the distant horizon beyond the stained-glass windows. Marehelm would fall. I could see it already—the white wolves crushed beneath my banner.

“Guards!” I barked.

One rushed in at once, kneeling.

“Your command, Your Majesty?”

“Push the troops forward,” I ordered. “They are to reach Marehelm on the day of the wedding. I want to witness the city’s fall myself.”

The guard bowed deeply before hurrying out.

Beside me, Antoni was grinning like the devil himself.

“This time, Marehelm will crumble.”

I let out a cold laugh, squinting my eyes with bloodlust.

“It’s already mine. And once it falls, that bastard child of Josie’s will know suffering so great, she’ll beg for death!”

And with that vision—so close I could taste it—my soul swelled with triumph.

Makenna’s POV:

The morning of the wedding transformed Marehelm into a glowing canvas of lights and color, the entire city humming with celebration. We’d lowered our defenses on purpose, a bold move designed to lure the enemy in. Let them think they’d found an opening—blind to the snare we’d so carefully prepared.

Inside the church, I remained still, my eyes following Alice as she moved toward us with poised grace, every step deliberate.

She wore a white gown, its hem stitched with pearls that caught the light. Her hair had been swept up with precision, exposing the elegant line of her neck, and her radiant face glowed with serene beauty. This was one of the dresses the three princes and I had picked for her. On her, it looked like it was always meant to be.

Amon stood waiting, dressed in a crisp black suit. His eyes never left Alice, soft with affection and a joy that quietly built in his gaze. He reached for her hand, his words charged with excitement.

“Alice, you’re breathtaking today.”
