Chapter 1171
Chapter 1171:
Could it be the wizards coming back? Or was Colt up to another one of his schemes?
My heart pounded in my chest as I instinctively pulled Winfred closer, eyeing the entrance with suspicion.
“Makenna! Makenna!” a voice I knew well, laced with concern, called out from the other side of the gates.
For a moment, I froze, and then it hit me. It was Bryan.
I watched as Bryan burst in with a group of people following him.
His face was tight with worry, his gaze darting over me as he asked, “Makenna, are you hurt? Are you okay?”
I shook my head, tears streaming down my face once again, but this time they were mixed with happiness.
I glanced down at Winfred in my arms and smiled. “Bryan, this is our son, Winfred. Would you like to hold him?”
Bryan froze, his eyes locking on Winfred, his face showing disbelief and a mix of emotions.
In the next instant, he stretched out his trembling hands, gently taking Winfred from me.
Winfred stared at Bryan, his tiny hand reaching up to grab Bryan’s collar without him realizing it.
“Winfred…” Bryan whispered, his voice thick with emotion.
Slowly, his eyes began to redden, as though everything inside him had shattered in that instant, leaving only love and guilt for his son. I stepped back, silently watching the moment unfold, torn between different feelings.
Winfred had finally met his father…

Alden hurried in right behind Bryan, his eyes scanning the place with a frown. “Makenna, where’s Jett? Where is he?”
The moment I heard Jett’s name, everything inside me exploded.
I shut my eyes, feeling the weight of the pain, and my voice came out weak and broken. “He was taken by the people from the Wizard Clan.”
As soon as I spoke, I felt all the strength leave my body. I swayed on my feet before everything went black and I collapsed.
Jett’s POV:
Nestled within the carriage, I felt its gentle cadence, a rhythmic sway with each turn of the wheels. My eyes lingered on the world beyond the window, where landscapes blurred into streaks of motion.
Trees, mountains, and fields stretched and faded, slipping from sight with fleeting haste.
A tempest of emotions swirled within me, a crushing weight settling on my chest, leaving me unmoored and powerless.
Opposite me, Lucian sat, his face a mask of cold indifference, as if I were no more than a lifeless object—hardly the second prince of the Wizard Clan.
A stifling silence blanketed the carriage, pierced only by the ceaseless rumble of wheels against the earth, lending the air a dense, oppressive weight.
I shut my eyes, seeking solace, but Makenna’s visage haunted my thoughts.
Her tears, her radiant smile, her heart-wrenching farewell—they flickered vividly in my mind, seared into my soul, a heavy ache in my heart.
