Chapter 1169:

Makenna’s POV:

The air grew thick with tension, as though time itself had paused in suspense.

Lucian’s brow furrowed as he fixed his piercing gaze on Colt, his voice a hushed murmur laced with suspicion. “Your Highness, have you drugged Prince Jett?”

Colt let out a derisive chuckle, casting a scornful glance at Alice and Winfred. His tone dripped with disdain as he retorted, “Drug him? Hardly. I only drugged those two insignificant werewolves.”

I glanced up at Jett, who stood composed, his eyes locked on Colt with an air of quiet anticipation, as if biding his time.

Lucian absorbed Colt’s words, his expression barely shifting. With measured calm, he turned to Jett. “Your Highness, those two are mere pawns, unworthy of our concern. We should return at once—His Majesty awaits.”

At this, Jett’s demeanor darkened, his gaze slicing through Lucian like a blade. His voice was resolute, unyielding. “Without an antidote, I’m not budging. You might as well drag my lifeless body from here.” His icy stare swept over Lucian and Colt, firm and unwavering. “Moreover, the werewolves’ reinforcements are closing in. Linger any longer, and you may find escape impossible.”

Jett’s words struck Lucian like a bolt, his composure shattering as a flicker of panic and unease danced across his eyes.

Clearly, he hadn’t foreseen the situation spiraling to such a precarious edge.

Should the werewolves’ reinforcements arrive, the balance would tip into chaos.

Lucian drew a steadying breath, turning to Colt with a tone now stripped of deference. “Your Highness, surrender the antidote.”

Colt’s face twisted with resentment, his pride wounded.

“Lucian, do you dare threaten me?” he snapped, his cheeks flushing with indignation, his eyes blazing.

Lucian’s gaze hardened, his voice cold and unyielding. “I’m merely cautioning you—His Majesty’s patience wears thin. He is well aware of your reckless actions and is far from pleased. Test his limits at your peril.”

Colt let out a bitter, mocking laugh, his eyes darting between Jett and Lucian.

After a tense pause, he relented, yanking a small vial from his pocket and hurling it toward Jett with a snarl. “Take it! But don’t think this is your victory!”

Jett caught the vial with steady hands, inspecting its contents with care.

After a moment, he gave a curt nod, satisfied it was genuine, and passed it to me with a softened tone. “Makenna, hurry—administer it to them.”

“Alright,” I replied, taking the vial with urgency. I knelt beside Alice, gently tilting her head to pour the potion past her lips.

As the antidote took effect, Alice’s breathing steadied, a faint sign of life returning.

I quickly turned to Winfred, administering the remaining dose. In moments, the color returned to Alice’s and Winfred’s faces, their breaths growing even and calm.

Only then did I exhale, the heavy burden in my chest finally easing.

“Jett…” I looked up at him, my heart brimming with unspoken gratitude and sadness, words faltering in the face of Jett’s impending departure.

Yet, Lucian’s icy voice cut through the moment, laced with impatience. He urged Jett, “Your Highness, may we depart? His Majesty’s patience is wearing perilously thin.”

Jett gave a solemn nod, steeling himself to leave with Lucian and the others.
