Chapter 1348
Chapter 1348:
Rage twisted his features into something inhuman as he stalked toward me with predatory intent. “Your blade severed my flesh and bone all those months ago! This day brings justice not only for my fallen father and beloved Molly, but also for the limb you stole from my body!”
The revelation hit me like a thunderbolt, leaving me paralyzed as the terrible implications of his words slowly sank in.
Antoni wrenched a curved saber from the nearest warrior’s grip and drew it across the stone floor, producing a sound like fingernails scraping across a coffin lid. “Rest assured—your agony will eclipse Molly’s suffering tenfold before I grant you the mercy of death.”
“Halt where you stand!”
In the split second before the steel could kiss my throat, a commanding voice thundered across the battlefield, crackling with wrath.
Makenna’s POV:
Antoni’s blade froze mere inches from my throat, its deadly edge glinting in the sunlight.
I followed his gaze and turned to see the soldiers parting like a river cleaved by a stone. A towering figure approached with deliberate, unhurried strides. “Antoni, who granted you permission to end Makenna’s life without my command?”
Colt stepped forward, his amber eyes gleaming with a frosty sharpness, like daggers forged from ice. His gaze swept over me and the unconscious Clayton sprawled on the ground, his expression as cold as a winter’s dawn.
“Y-Your Highness!” Antoni’s venomous bravado melted away in an instant. He bowed deeply, his eagerness to please almost palpable. “I’ve already—”
Crack!
The sharp sting of a slap rang through the shadowed alley.
Colt shook out his reddened hand, his voice colder than a blizzard’s heart. “Fool. Jett still breathes. If you kill Makenna now, how can I wield her as a weapon against him?”
My heart thundered in my chest, my nails biting into my palms, drawing tiny crescents of pain.
Antoni stumbled back, clutching his cheek. A flicker of resentment sparked in his eyes, but he dared not strike back. “I… I was wrong, Your Highness. This woman’s cunning runs deep. If I didn’t act, she might have slipped through our fingers again!”
“Enough.” With a dismissive flick of Colt’s hand, two of his elite guards seized Antoni, pinning him in place.
Colt’s attention shifted to me, his steps closing the distance with predatory grace. Without warning, his cold fingers seized my chin, sending a shiver racing down my spine.
“Makenna,” he murmured, his voice a silken whisper near my ear, his breath grazing my neck like a serpent’s kiss, “did you truly believe you could elude me? I’ll spare your life—and that of your werewolf prince—for now. You should be kissing my boots in gratitude.”
My blood turned to ice, each heartbeat a frozen drum.
Colt’s lips curled, savoring my fear. Releasing my chin, he turned to his soldiers, his voice cutting through the air like a blade. “Throw them into the dungeon beneath my villa.”
After a deliberate pause, he added with chilling precision, “And the werewolf prince? Handle him with… utmost care.”
