Chapter 1346:

While Dominic kept them at bay, Clayton and I slipped away, heading for the edges of the royal city.

We dashed through dark alleys and slipped between shadows, dodging patrols until we hit the city gates—only to find them locked tight.

A group of soldiers was closing in, sweeping the area with sharp eyes. Clayton dragged me into a hidden alley.

“The gates are shut,” he whispered, his eyes sharp as they scanned around us. “Looks like Jett’s dead set on tracking you down.”

I gripped the sleeve of his jacket, my hands slick with sweat. “If I go back now, Jett won’t cause trouble for you.”

“No.” Clayton spun around suddenly, taking my chin in his hand with a firm but gentle touch. His usually soft eyes flashed with anger. “Makenna, do you really think we risked everything to find you just to hand you back to Jett?”

The hurt in his eyes left me dumbstruck. Before I could say a word, the steady sound of footsteps echoed from the alley’s mouth.

In an instant, we were surrounded by a swarm of heavily armed soldiers. Without hesitation, Clayton stepped forward, putting his body between me and the threat.

The soldiers suddenly split apart as one, clearing a path. The heavy thuds of boots on stone grew louder, each strike sending a jolt through my nerves.

“Clayton, long time no see. Still holding up?” That voice—it chilled me to the bone.

Soon, Antoni’s dark, menacing face stepped out of the shadows.

The second Clayton caught sight of Antoni, a sharp chill flickered through his eyes.

Antoni burst out with a mocking laugh. “Clayton, you’ve got guts, sneaking into the Wizard Clan’s royal city alone just to snatch someone.”

His laughter died off quickly, replaced by a cold glare as he motioned with his hand. “Today, I’ll see to it you don’t walk out of here alive!”

At his signal, the soldiers lifted their iron-tipped spears together, all pointed straight at us.

Makenna’s POV:

Under the harsh glare of sunlight, Clayton’s cold sneer transformed into something razor-sharp and predatory. “Antoni Harrison, you pathetic excuse for a werewolf who betrayed his kind—what gives you the audacity to stand before me and act smug?”

The accusation of treachery rolled off Antoni like water from stone, leaving him completely unmoved. Instead, his poisonous gaze locked onto me with lethal intensity while his fingers twitched with uncontrolled, manic tremors.

“Makenna, when Molly drew her final breath, I made a sacred vow to tear your beating heart from your chest and present it as tribute to her memory! This day marks your execution—I guarantee it!”

Molly?

The sound of that name struck me like venom injected straight into my bloodstream, sending violent tremors through my entire frame.

Without warning, Clayton erupted into harsh, bitter laughter that lit his eyes with cruel amusement. “Molly received exactly the fate she earned through her actions! And let’s not forget—her heart never belonged to you. If you had truly mattered to her, why would she have orchestrated such elaborate schemes to try to become my wife?”

“Silence!” Antoni’s complexion darkened to a mottled, furious purple that spoke of barely contained rage. His arm swept through the air like a blade as he unleashed a thunderous command. “Kill them!”
