Chapter 1345
Chapter 1345:
I tightened the blanket around me, shrinking into it, while the tension between them crackled like static in the air.
Clayton’s smirk faded, and he approached Dominic. His tone shifted, cool and focused. “This isn’t the time for bickering. What’s the situation?”
Dominic didn’t answer right away. Instead, he moved to the window, yanking the curtain aside just enough to glance out.
Harsh sunlight poured into the room.
“They’re here,” he said, his voice icy. “Jett’s men. The entire district is locked down.”
Makenna’s POV:
“Jett is here, searching for me. I have to get back!”
Catching Dominic and Clayton chatting, I suddenly threw the blanket off. As soon as my feet landed on the carpet, Dominic grabbed my shoulders and shoved me back to the bed’s edge.
His icy glare burned with fierce anger as he held me tight. “Don’t even think about it! I’m not letting you go this time! Over my dead body!”
Clayton stayed silent, but his face showed he was on Dominic’s side.
The noise outside the window grew louder and closer by the second.
Out of the blue, Dominic sank to one knee and gently cupped my face in his hands. He pressed his forehead against mine and said, “Makenna, come back to the werewolf territory with me. I swear I’ll help you remember everything.” His lashes fluttered with such a shaky tremor it twisted my heart.
I paused for what felt like forever before giving him a slow nod.
Bang!
The door took a hard hit, sending splinters flying everywhere.

A gruff voice roared, “By order of Prince Jett, we’re searching. Open up the door!”
All three of us tensed at once.
In the faint glow, Clayton’s golden eyes flashed with a cold, sharp edge. His right hand hovered over the dagger at his belt.
Without warning, Dominic rose, grabbed me from the bed, and shoved me toward Clayton. His voice was firm and low. “Take Makenna and get out of here.”
“No!” Clayton and I said at the same time.
Dominic didn’t pay us any mind. His knuckles popped loudly as his body twisted and expanded. Fur erupted wildly across his skin.
“Howl—”
Before us stood a massive wolf, its teeth sparkling dangerously in the sunlight. “Go! I’ll meet you outside the city!”
With a fierce headbutt, he shattered the window and spun around, letting out a roar that shook the air.
“Got it!” Clayton grabbed my wrist without missing a beat.
Right then, the door burst open. Spears tipped with cold iron flooded our line of sight.
Dominic lunged at the invading soldiers, buying us precious seconds to run. At the same time, Clayton pulled me through the broken window.
The last thing I caught was Dominic’s claws ripping through the chest plates of three soldiers with one savage swipe.
