Chapter 1343
Chapter 1343:
He hesitated, his voice weighed with concern. “The timeline lines up with when Miss Dunn disappeared.”
The crystal goblet in my hand shattered with a sharp crack, fragments biting into my palm.
It suddenly hit me. Just yesterday, on our way back to the palace from the bridal shop, Makenna had murmured dreamily that she thought she’d caught a glimpse of someone familiar.
“Could it be the three werewolf princes?” Lucian’s voice cut through the air like a poisoned blade, cold and merciless. He drew a finger across his throat in a chilling gesture. “If that is the case, it’s the perfect chance to wipe them out.”
The sunlight streaming through the window turned harsh, almost blinding.
I stood rooted to the spot, my heart torn in a storm of indecision.
“Your Highness?” Lucian urged, his voice low and insistent. “Just say the word.”
“Silence!” I roared, my restraint snapping like a brittle twig.
If I struck against those princes and Makenna later recalled everything, her heart would turn from me forever.
I released the broken goblet, ignoring the pain in my palm. “Keep searching for Makenna. If you find the werewolves, report to me at once.”
Lucian’s eyes widened in disbelief. “You would let them walk free?”
“Out!” I bellowed, overturning the table in a surge of fury, its contents crashing to the floor.
Lucian fell silent, retreating with reluctant steps until his footfalls faded into the distance.
Only then did I collapse into a chair, the weight of my fears pressing down like a stone.
The crystal shards embedded in my fingertips burned, but their sting was a mere whisper compared to the torment of picturing Makenna in the arms of those three princes.

“Why?” I whispered into the hollow expanse of the room, my voice barely a breath. “This time, I was the one who found you first.”
Makenna’s POV:
“Makenna, you’re awake!”
The man before me had hair like spun moonlight, eyes blazing like twin embers, and features so sharply sculpted they could have been forged by a master artisan’s blade. As he leaned in, a few silver strands caught the dawn’s glow, shimmering like threads of starlight.
I blinked at him, a flicker of recognition teasing my mind, but when I chased the memory, a sharp pain sliced through my skull.
I curled into myself, clutching my temples as the world spun.
“Easy, Makenna, don’t force it.” His voice was a velvet murmur as he drew me into his arms, one hand weaving gently through my hair with a tenderness that matched his soothing tone. “Just breathe. Let it go.”
His warmth enveloped me, a quiet haven against the storm in my head. Resting against his chest, I felt the steady drum of his heartbeat, and slowly, the pain ebbed.
“Who… are you?” I asked, tilting my face to meet his gaze.
