Chapter 1306
Chapter 1306:
“Your Majesty, General Ortiz has already sent for a doctor,” the soldier replied, his voice trembling slightly.
Father eased slightly. “Good.”
I couldn’t stand to hear more. With a sneer, I cut in, “Father, don’t worry. My younger brother has always been strong and healthy. He’ll be fine.”
The words slipped out, and I instantly regretted them. My father’s sharp gaze sliced through me like a blade.
Once the soldier left, I excused myself, claiming I needed air.
Night had settled over the camp, the wind carrying the sharp, metallic scent of blood. I inhaled deeply and signaled to the shadows.
A figure emerged from behind a tree—my informant, planted near Jett.
“Tell me everything. What’s happening with Jett?” I demanded in a hushed tone.
The soldier glanced around nervously before leaning closer. “Your Highness, Prince Jett wasn’t sick. He found a woman in the northern forest and carried her back to the palace himself.”
“A woman?” My brow furrowed. “What did she look like?”
Jett had always kept women at arm’s length. Even the Wizard Clan’s most alluring women failed to sway him. What made this one different?
“I didn’t get a clear view,” the soldier admitted cautiously. “But I heard Prince Jett call her… Makenna?”
Makenna?
I seized his collar, my grip tightening. “Makenna? Are you certain? She’s alive?”
The soldier paled, nodding frantically. “Yes… that’s what Prince Jett called her.”
I released him, my mind racing. “Keep watching!” I tossed him a pouch of gold coins. “Report any developments immediately.”

Staring at the fading hoofprints leading toward the palace, my eyes narrowed. “Jett, oh Jett… You’ve handed me the perfect weapon against you this time. If this woman means so much to you, I’ll ensure she becomes your downfall.”
Jett’s pov:
Fearing an ambush by Colt’s men, I decided to steer clear of the main entrance and escort Makenna through a secluded side gate into the palace.
The rhythmic clatter of hooves rang in my ears as I tightened my hold, drawing Makenna’s fragile form closer to my chest.
“Your Highness, are we taking the side gate?” one of my trusted guards murmured, his voice hushed.
I gave a curt nod, slipping off my cloak to drape it over Makenna’s trembling frame. “Not a word about today’s events.”
The guard stiffened, grasping the weight of my order.
We navigated the labyrinthine palace grounds until we reached my private villa. The servants and a doctor stood ready at the entrance, their eyes widening as they saw me carrying Makenna. They hurried toward us.
“Prepare hot water and fresh clothes—now!” I commanded, my voice sharp with urgency as I carried Makenna into the bedroom.
The servants scrambled to comply, exiting swiftly.
I laid Makenna gently on the bed and turned to the doctor. “She coughed blood and passed out. Find out what’s wrong and save her, no matter what it takes.”
