Chapter 1270
Chapter 1270:
Their armor gleamed a deep shade of purple, and stitched on their chestplates was the coiled serpent—there was no mistaking the mark of the Wizard Clan.
They were part of the Wizard Clan’s forces.
Leading the formation was a face I knew all too well—Antoni. The sight of him made my blood run hot.
That merciless snake had dragged an entire Wizard Clan battalion to trap the cemetery in a vice grip.
Fighting werewolves was tough, but doable. These wizard-warriors were a whole different beast. Most of them used magic potions, making them deadlier and more unpredictable than anything I’d just faced.
Right now, I was in rough shape—wounded and running low on strength.
I bit down hard, forcing myself not to leap out and do something foolish. Instead, I stayed low and kept my eyes on them as they marched into the cemetery. Slowly, I reached beneath my clothes and pulled out the signal flare.
Whoosh—bang!
The flare screamed into the sky, bursting open with a bright flash of red light. This was the distress call Bryan and I had worked out beforehand. All I could do now was pray he saw it and made it in time.
Makenna’s POV:
The instant my eyes landed on Antoni, they were drawn to the cold shimmer of his prosthetic left arm, glinting like a blade in the dim light.
A sly grin curled my lips. “It seems the last thrashing wasn’t enough to keep you down. Lost an arm, yet you still have the gall to challenge fate?”
Antoni’s expression darkened, his metal fingers snapping with a menacing click, like the ticking of a vengeful clock.
Fury blazed in his gaze, but his voice was icy as a winter’s night. “Take her alive! I’ll handle her myself!”

The wizard soldiers charged forward, their boots pounding the earth. I tightened my hold on the scepter, its weight grounding me as I braced for a fight to the bitter end.
Abruptly, Antoni’s eyes zeroed in on the scepter clutched in my hand. His pupils shrank to pinpricks. “Hold! Seize that relic from her first!”
“AWOOO!”
A bone-chilling wolf howl tore through Antoni’s command, echoing like a primal war cry.
The wizard soldiers froze, petrified, as a silver-gray streak plummeted from above, claws ripping through the throats of two soldiers in a heartbeat.
“Dominic!” I gasped, my voice a mix of shock and relief.
The massive wolf landed with the grace of a storm’s shadow, then shifted seamlessly into his human form, standing as my unyielding shield.
Blood streaked his face, wounds marred his body, yet he stood resolute, a towering guardian radiating steadfast courage.
Unable to hold back, I surged forward, wrapping my arms around him, the steady thrum of his heartbeat anchoring me through his blood-soaked clothes. The knot in my chest finally unraveled.
“Makenna, your wound…” Dominic’s voice rasped, rough as gravel, as he scanned my arm with concern.
“The sacred artifact has healed me.” I lifted the scepter to show Dominic, but my gaze caught the ghastly gash on his shoulder. “But you… you’re hurt far worse.”
