Chapter 1254:

On my way back to the Pierce home, the cool autumn breeze brushed against my cheeks.

I gazed up at the sky filled with countless stars, but my mind wandered to the looming obstacle—how I could get into the royal city without getting caught. Leonardo likely had my wanted notices posted all over werewolf lands, and my face was too well-known to go unnoticed.

Out of nowhere, a quick idea struck me—maybe I could use a disguise potion.

Jett had created it once before.

But my enthusiasm faded quickly; Jett was gone now, and the potion… Before I realized it, I found myself standing right in front of the Pierce family’s gate.

Without hesitation, I made my way toward the west wing, where Jett’s old laboratory had once been.

As I reached out to push the door open, a soft voice called out from behind me, “Makenna?”

I spun around quickly. Under the glow of the moon, Clayton’s hair shimmered with a gentle shine.

He smiled faintly and said, “I was just about to go to your room, but I didn’t think I’d run into you here.” His eyes looked at me with kindness, and warmth radiated from him.

As he finished speaking, he had already stepped over to my side, leaning in just a little. His voice was steady and calming, like a peaceful stream. “You’re leaving tomorrow; why aren’t you getting any rest?” he asked softly.

I pressed my lips together, contemplating my next words. “I was trying to see if I could find the disguise potion Jett left behind. It could help me get into the royal city without trouble.”

Clayton’s eyes flickered with thought, as if weighing the idea. Then he nodded in agreement. “That’s definitely a smart move,” he said.

He reached out with his long fingers and carefully pushed open the laboratory door. “Let me help you find it,” he offered kindly.

The laboratory was filled with a faint herbal scent, and moonlight poured in through the tall windows. It cast a silvery glow on the bottles and jars scattered around.

Jett’s workbench appeared untouched, as if he had just stepped away for a moment.

My fingertips grazed the familiar tools and equipment. A wave of sadness washed over me.

“Let’s begin searching from this side,” Clayton said quietly. He had already rolled up his sleeves and was carefully going through the cabinet on the left. We carefully checked every corner of the laboratory, inspecting each bottle with a label.

Time slipped away as we continued our search. The floor grew cluttered with the items we had gone through. Despite our efforts, the disguise potion still eluded us.

“How can it be missing?” I murmured in exasperation, sinking to the floor. I clutched the hem of my dress tightly in my fingers.

Clayton crouched beside me. His warm palm softly covered the back of my hand, offering comfort and reassurance.

“Don’t worry,” he said softly, a look of thought crossing his face. “Jett had trained those children… Maybe they could whip up a potion like that too?” I looked up suddenly, my hope flickering.

Yes, Jett had taught them a lot before he left. Perhaps they were capable of making it after all.
