Chapter 1250
Chapter 1250:
.
I reached up and gently smoothed the tension from his brow. My voice dropped to a whisper. “Aren’t you supposed to keep me safe?” A soft wind stirred my hair, lifting a few strands.
Dominic reached up and gently tucked one behind my ear. I caught his hand in mine and pleaded, “Please, let me go?”
He knitted his brows together, his fingers absentmindedly brushing against my wrist. “Even if I give in, Bryan and Clayton will never give the green light.”
I opened my mouth to protest, but he suddenly took my hand and led me forward, continuing our walk without a word.
Before long, we found ourselves back at the Pierce family’s grand estate. As soon as we crossed into the dining room, the rich, savory scent of the food wrapped around us like a warm blanket.
Beneath the sparkling chandelier, the long table was covered with an array of beautifully prepared dishes, and the silver cutlery gleamed in the elegant light. Dominic and I had barely taken our seats when the dining room door creaked open again.
Bryan and Clayton entered one after the other.
They both froze for a split second when they spotted us sitting so close, clearly surprised by how cozy we looked.
“Makenna, did you two patch things up?” Bryan narrowed his eyes slightly as he walked over and sat beside me.
His eyes darted between Dominic and me, finally landing on Dominic’s hand as he spooned food onto my plate.
I opened my mouth to say something, but Dominic beat me to it. His voice was cool, almost dismissive. “This is between us. As an outsider, you’re not involved.”
Bryan’s expression darkened in a flash, his long fingers twisting the napkin in his hand. “Who are you calling an outsider?”

His voice was sharp, laced with a chill, and his dark eyes gleamed with something dangerous.
Noticing the growing tension, I quickly stood, placing my hands firmly on the table. “Okay, okay, let’s just eat first!” I shot a quick look at Clayton.
He caught my signal right away and slid into a chair without hesitation. “Enough with the arguing,” I said, setting down my silverware with a purposeful clink, and then lightened my tone. “I’ve got a big announcement.”
Makenna’s POV:
Bryan’s face immediately relaxed, like a satisfied cat, as he leaned back in his chair without a word.
His long fingers drummed lightly on the table, and his piercing gaze never left me, urging me to speak.
Clayton lifted his cup with elegance and asked, “What are you planning to announce?”
I inhaled deeply, my fingers absentmindedly tracing the napkin. “I’ve made up my mind. I’m going to the werewolf mountains with Dominic.”
After a brief pause, I added, “The ancient manuscript says only the blood of the White Wolf Clan’s Saint can awaken the sacred artifact. That’s why I have to go.”
Bryan slammed his hand on the table, causing the dishes to rattle.
His veins popped on his forehead. “I don’t agree! The werewolf mountains are crawling with spies from our father. It’s far too dangerous!”
