Chapter 1212
Chapter 1212:
Alden suddenly stood, his voice firm. “If you’re set on going to the Wizard Clan, I’ll stop you myself. I won’t let you walk into that danger.”
We all stood in tense silence for a moment.
I looked at them, feeling helpless. They were just trying to protect me, but Jett was in real danger. After pushing them further, they finally relented, and their agreement was hard-won.
The plan was set: Bryan, Dominic, and Alden would accompany me to the Wizard Clan, while Clayton would stay behind in Marehelm to maintain order.
We huddled together, finalizing our plan to infiltrate the heart of the Wizard Clan’s land under the cover of darkness and rescue Jett.
“We need to reach the Wizard Clan’s stronghold before midnight,” Bryan said, his finger tracing a spot on the map. “Nightfall will give us the cover we need to slip into their prison.”
Dominic’s gaze hardened, his voice serious. “The Wizard Clan’s guards are sharp. We need to move carefully and stay under the radar.”
Alden stepped forward, trying to lighten the mood. He gave my shoulder a quick pat. “Makenna, Jett’s always been lucky. Don’t worry. This is my first time on one of these missions, but we’ll get it done—you’ll see!”
Clayton, sitting off to the side and not part of the mission, shot Alden a disapproving look but kept his thoughts to himself.
Just as we were about to leave, Evie rushed in, holding a letter tightly in her hand.
“Makenna, Antoni sent a letter for you!” she said, her voice tinged with urgency.
A wave of unease settled in my stomach.
I took the letter from her, tore it open, and quickly skimmed through its contents. The letter described Jett’s condition in the Wizard Clan and even included a photo of him locked up.
In the photo, Jett looked pale and weak. His body was covered in cuts, and his skin was raw and bleeding. He looked completely miserable—broken.

“Jett…” My hands trembled as I gripped the photo.
I knew this could be part of Antoni’s scheme, but seeing Jett in that state twisted my heart with sorrow.
“We can’t wait any longer! Let’s go to the Wizard Clan right now!” I declared, the urgency burning in my chest.
Makenna’s POV:
The night was pitch-black, as if the heavens had buried the moon under a suffocating quilt of clouds. Not even a sliver of silver light broke through. Only the occasional flicker of light would pierce the dense shadows, vanishing just as quickly as it came.
Under that blanket of darkness, we moved like ghosts—careful and silent, slipping through the trees into the forbidden territory of the Wizard Clan. Every step was guided by the fragmented clues Antoni had left behind, each one leading us to the same place: the basement where Jett was being held captive.
Ahead of us loomed our destination: a decrepit castle, buried in shadow and silence, forgotten by time but not by the guards who watched it. Despite its apparent abandonment, the place was bristling with security—soldiers moving like shadows in the gloom. Their hushed voices and the quiet sound of boots against the earth were too loud in the stillness. The tension in the air was razor-thin.
“Be cautious. Don’t alert the guards,” Bryan hissed, his voice barely a breath, almost swallowed by the night’s stillness.
