Chapter 1211:

estless crowd, raising my voice to calm them down. “Please, everyone, stay calm! These people are not from Marehelm. They’re spies sent by the king! Their goal is to stir up trouble and disrupt our peace. Don’t let yourselves be fooled!”

With the spies captured on the spot, the crowd, reassured by my words, slowly settled, and the chaos began to die down.

“Everyone!” I took the chance to speak again. “For the future of Marehelm, I suggest we form a council of citizens to help govern the city. Your voices and ideas will guide every decision we make for Marehelm.”

As soon as I finished talking, a low hum of conversation spread across the crowd.

A man in his middle years moved to the front, his voice full of enthusiasm. “Is what you said true? Can we really have a say in how things are run?”

I gave a sincere nod. “Yes, Marehelm is your home, and you deserve the power to shape its future. We need more than just your support—we need your strength.”

“Wonderful! I’m all in!”

“I’m with you too!”

My words hit home with the crowd. People started nodding along, showing they were on the same page.

At that moment, a guard rushed up to me, breathing heavily. He whispered quickly, “Miss Dunn, there’s an urgent message.”

I frowned, a small knot of worry forming in my gut. “What’s going on?”

The guard’s voice shook with fear as he explained, “We caught some whispers from the Wizard Clan. Jett is in critical condition there and might have… passed away.”

“Jett…” My heart dropped, the shock almost knocking me off my feet. But Bryan was right there, his arm catching me before I could stumble. Jett was one of my closest allies. After losing Paula, the thought of losing him too was unbearable.

Makenna’s POV:

Colt, the eldest prince of the Wizard Clan, had always considered Jett a constant nuisance, making several attempts on his life. I feared Jett was in grave danger now.

I couldn’t stay calm anymore; all I could think about was rescuing him.

After calming the citizens, I gathered Bryan and the others to strategize. Inside the conference hall, the tension was palpable.

Finally, Bryan broke the silence, his voice heavy. “Makenna, this could be a trap. Our enemies might be leaking Jett’s condition on purpose to draw you in. We can’t act recklessly.”

“I understand your concerns, but Jett has done so much for me. He’s facing this danger alone in the Wizard Clan, and I can’t just sit here and do nothing!” I said, my voice shaking slightly as I tried to hold my emotions in check. I barely heard Bryan’s words.

After a long pause, I spoke with resolve. “I have to go to the Wizard Clan. I must save him myself.”

Bryan stared at me, surprised by my determination.

Dominic hesitated, thinking it over before letting out a deep sigh. With clear reluctance, he spoke. “Makenna, I understand how you feel, but we can’t let emotions cloud our judgment. This could be a trap. We can’t risk you walking right into danger.”

Clayton nodded solemnly, speaking up next. “Makenna, the Wizard Clan is far too dangerous. I can’t let you go alone.”
