Chapter 1178
Chapter 1178:
Satisfied, I slipped out of the room, pulling the door closed behind me with a soft click. A sense of quiet relief washed over me.
Maybe, just maybe, something new was about to blossom between Alice and Amon.
Sure, Amon could barely string a sentence together when he was nervous, but his heart was in the right place, and his care for Alice was as plain as day.
And if anyone deserved that kind of pure, unwavering affection, it was Alice.
Over the next few days, Alice’s health took a turn for the better. Her cheeks grew rosier, her energy returned, and the ghostly pallor that once haunted her face slowly faded away.
Amon became a regular visitor, showing up almost daily—sometimes with a bunch of flowers clutched awkwardly in his hands, other times with a bowl of homemade soup that filled the room with mouthwatering aromas.
Where once they’d barely dared exchange glances back at the palace, their bond now bloomed right before my eyes, sweet and natural as springtime.
Watching the two of them was like watching a tender little secret unfold, and it warmed my heart.
Then one day, Alice and Amon showed up hand-in-hand, cheeks flushed pink and grins tugging at their lips.
It was the first time I had seen them so openly affectionate. Alice clung shyly to Amon’s arm, her eyes shining, while Amon fidgeted with his free hand, casting bashful glances her way like he couldn’t quite believe his luck.
A playful smile tugged at my lips as I arched an eyebrow. “Oh? Visiting me so formally? What’s this? Are you two planning to mark each other as mates already?”
To my surprise, their blushes deepened even further at my teasing.
Alice ducked her head shyly, her voice soft but carrying a tender, unmistakable joy. “Makenna… we already have. We’re mates now. You’re my best friend, so I wanted you to be the first to know… and to ask for your blessing.”

For a moment, I was utterly stunned, caught off guard by how quickly their relationship had blossomed.
Seeing me at a loss for words, Amon nodded earnestly, his voice a little shaky but full of conviction. “Miss Dunn, I know this must seem sudden, but we’re serious. I swear I’ll protect Alice—I’ll never let anything or anyone hurt her again.”
As the initial shock melted away, a surge of pure, unfiltered joy filled my heart.
I stepped forward, clasping both their hands warmly. “Alice, Amon, I’m beyond happy for you. Finding each other was a rare and precious gift. Of course you have my blessing—may happiness always walk beside you.”
Alice lifted her head, her eyes shimmering with unshed tears, her voice thick with emotion. “Thank you, Makenna… Having a friend like you is one of the greatest blessings of my life.”
Beside her, Amon’s grin widened into something bright and boyish, so genuine it made my own heart swell.
I beamed back at them, then, a sudden thought struck me, and I couldn’t hold back my excitement. “Since you’re mates now, why don’t we throw a wedding celebration for you?”
