Chapter 1141
Chapter 1141:
“The only people who would be after them are my father and Antoni. They need Alice and Winifred alive as leverage to get to you. Killing them would ruin their plans,” Bryan explained calmly.
His words calmed me a little.
It was only then that I noticed Bryan’s hands were trembling slightly.
He too was scared. He was just trying to be strong for me.
I stopped crying as I felt better just being close to him.
“Let’s go back to the Pierce family’s estate. It’s windy out here. We’ll find a solution to this problem, alright?” Bryan said reassuringly, holding my hand.
“Alright,” I said, and then followed him.
We soon returned to the Pierce family residence, where Bryan explained the situation to everybody.
A blanket of worry seemed to have covered the whole room.
Dominic looked both solemn and thoughtful at the same time, as though trying to figure out what to do next. Clayton’s face went pale with fear and worry.
Jett stood off to one side, arms crossed, his face solemn.
“Rest easy, Makenna. We will dispatch our best to search for Alice and Winfred,” Clayton said reassuringly.
Everyone immediately got to work.
Time passed, and with each moment, I felt even more hopeless.
“We found nothing in the eastern part of the werewolf territory, Your Highnesses.”
“There was nothing in the south, Your Highnesses.”
“Nothing in the west either.”

With each report, my hope dwindled even more.
I grew more anxious as time passed.
Winfred was still a baby. He hadn’t even had a chance to call me “Mom” yet.
I was about to lose hope completely when a soldier ran into the room. He had a letter in his hand.
“Your Highnesses, this letter was found at the city gates!”
Makenna’s POV:
Could it be from Leonardo?
Before Bryan or the others could move, I darted to the soldier, my hands shaking as I snatched the letter from him and ripped it open. The handwriting was unmistakable—it was Leonardo’s.
“Makenna, Evie and her grandmother are in my custody. Refuse to surrender, and they’ll suffer torment.”
The brief, vicious words sent a shiver through me.
Rage surged within me. I never imagined Leonardo would stoop to such a vile threat.
“What’s wrong?” Clayton’s voice, laced with worry, broke through from behind.
I looked up, meeting his intense golden eyes. Taking a steadying breath, I handed him the letter. “Read it yourself.”
Clayton scanned the note swiftly, his expression hardening instantly. He folded it with a sharp snap, anger flashing in his eyes before he reined it in.
