Chapter 985
Although Feena yearned for Jack—to the point where she was thinking about him when she was eating, sleeping, and even dreaming-Feena was stubborn to a fault and refused to admit it aloud. In fact, she begrudged Jack for taking so long to look for her.
"Is that so?" Jack asked teasingly. "Maybe I should just go back to Alnewgo then." "Don't you dare!" Feena exclaimed hastily, worried that Jack would actually leave. She said softly, "You pig! Don't you know how I feel? I missed you... I would think about you everyday. I would think about you so much that I wouldn't be able to fall asleep. Are you happy now?"
Feena didn't think about him because she was lonely. On the contrary, she only felt lonely when she thought about him.
Her voice was gentle yet flirtatious, making Jack's heart hammer in his chest. He imagined her whispering into his ear in that voice every day in the future, which made his heartbeat speed up. He couldn't wait for even a second longer.
"How's the rehearsal going? How long more do you need?" Jack asked.
"It's going to be my turn soon. Be good and wait for me," she answered.
The two of them exchanged a few more words before it went silent on Feena's end. Jack guessed that she must be about to begin her rehearsal, so he placed his phone down, found a seat and closed his eyes to rest.
The sounds of a set of footsteps resounded toward him, which was immediately followed by a sweet scent of perfume that was carried upon the breeze. It appeared that a slender woman was about to join him in the waiting area.
The smell of the perfume was oddly familiar to Jack. Unable to help himself, he peeled his eyes open for a peek, wanting to catch a glimpse of the newcomer. He was stunned when he saw her face and quickly shut his eyes, pretending to be in a deep sleep.
The newcomer was none other than Bella!
The perfume he had smelled was the same scent that he had once yearned for day and night. It had even haunted his dreams. He was surprised that Bella was still using the same, familiar perfume even though two years had passed.
She was still the same person, but she was also different from the Bella Jack once knew, making melancholy simmer in Jack's heart.
Bella was on the phone. She strolled over to a seat that was a short distance away and sat down. Jack guessed that she must be having a private conversation. She wouldn't have selected such a secluded corner to take the call otherwise.
Since the lighting in the waiting area was dim, Bella must not have
noticed him, since he was also covering his head and pretending to be asleep. Jack lowered his head even more and continued playing the part of a man who was deep asleep.
After Bella sat down, she spoke softly into the receiver, "Okay... Mom might not approve... Alright then... You shouldn't be so hasty... Okay, I'll see you when I'm back..." She giggled before continuing, "Okay then."

Jack had only heard her first few words, but he lost all desire to listen to the rest of her conversation. Although Jack had always been dense when it came to feelings, Bella's sweet tone when she spoke to the person on the other end of the line was unmistakable.
When he put all the clues together, he could make an educated guess that Bella was on the phone with her boyfriend. Jack didn't know when she had gotten herself
a boyfriend, but it wasn't surprising that she had one.
Jack's heart was a complicated and chaotic mess of emotions.
Bella left the waiting area after she was done with her call, her image flashing briefly past Jack's line of sight. When her silhouette
pel
completely disappeared, he opened his eyes and stared at the plack certing in a daze. A moment passed before he sighed lightly, closing his eyes again.
He didn't know how long had passed, but he was still in a daze when he was woken
up by the ringing of his phone. He retrieved his phone and looked at the screen, noticing that it was Luca who was calling him.
