Chapter 969
Wilhelmina tried to stall, telling Jack she needed a moment to prepare all while secretly planning an escape.
But she'd misread the moment. With Jack already caught up in the heat of it, any sign of hesitation only seemed to stir him more. He pulled her into a tight embrace.
Tears welled up in Wilhelmina's eyes as fear and despair consumed her.
Just as Jack was losing his mind, intending to teach her a lesson, the door in the corner creaked open.
A young couple entered, arms wrapped around each other. When they saw Jack and Wilhelmina locked in such a close, charged moment, they froze with their eyes widened and jaws dropped. They hadn't expected to stumble upon the couple being frisky in a secluded corner.
The guy gave an apologetic look and said, "We're sorry! You two carry on."
With that, he turned to leave.
However, the girl beside him stopped in her tracks. "Wait... Wilhelmina? Is that you?" she asked in surprise.
Wilhelmina realized it was her best friend. Relief flooded her, and she instinctively tried to break free.
Though Jack still had her pulled close, his lips brushing hers, Wilhelmina glanced at her friend with wide, pleading eyes. Her friend looked at Jack in confusion, as though sensing something was wrong.
"What are you two doing? Isn't this a little much?"
Jack's jaw tightened, frustration simmering. He silently cursed the interruption. Now that someone else was here, the intensity of the moment was broken; pushing things further wasn't an option.
Jack roughly lowered Wilhelmina's leg from his shoulder and shot a piercing glance at the couple. Then, he turned and strode away without saying a word.
As Jack walked away, the woman rushed to Wilhelmina's side and asked gently, "Are you okay? What just happened?"
Wilhelmina shook her head, still visibly shaken. Her eyes followed Jack's retreating figure, her heart pounding.
The entire moment felt surreal, like something out of a nightmare. A cold shiver ran through her. That jerk was impossible to deal with.
The guy next to her friend furrowed his brows. "Did that jerk try to mess with you?"
Wilhelmina didn't respond. Tears
welled up in her eyes again and began to fall silently. She had never felt so humiliated in her life. And worst af all, she felt so powerless against Jack's bullying.
The woman clenched her fists, her voice rising in anger. "How dare he treat you like that? Who is he? I'm going to tell your father and make sure that arrogant bastard answers for this!"
With that, the woman was prepared to storm off. She knew very well who Wilhelmina was.
Wilhelmina wasn't just a wealthy daughter, but someone with real influence and strength in Boleria and Tarthy City. How could a jerk go unpunished after being so disrespectful to Wilhelmina?
However, Wilhelmina shook her head and whispered, "Don't... It's no use. You won't be able to hurt him."
No use? The young couple exchanged stunned glances.
Even Wilhelmina said it wouldn't help? Who exactly was this man? The thought sent a chill down their spines.
Only Wilhelmina knew that her
relationship with Jack was one agreed upon by both their families Officially she was the
daughter in law of the Lycan family, a match arranged with her parents' full consent.
Hence, any trouble Jack caused her was considered a private family matter. Reporting the matter to Trent would only bring her more trouble. In fact, her father might even be pleased.
After all, he wanted her to marry into
the Lycan family. And now that Jack was the head of Haven Net, how could frent stand in the way? This meant Wilhelmina had no choice but to rely on herself to get back at Jack.
