Chapter 949
That idea was even more ridiculous than the last.
Quintis' Sandalwood Group might be a massive conglomerate that was recognized internationally, but it was still impossible for them to produce the funds required to purchase a huge business such as Haven Net.
The only reasonable explanation was that Jack had single-handedly founded Haven Net. Unfortunately, it was also the reality that Wilhelmina was most unwilling to accept.
The buzzing in her head was deafening as countless thoughts and ideas flashed through her mind. In the end, she realized that her body had turned icy to the touch.
Meanwhile, Jason was all smiles as he shook Jack's hand. His voice was dripping with emotion as he exclaimed, "Jack, you're truly such a talented young man! Speaking of which, Jack and I are friends despite our age difference.
"He's simply too amazing. Not only is he the president of Haven Net, but he's also the founder of Genesis Games. Now that his titles have merged to become one, I hope that, no matter which stock market he chooses to list Haven Net on, the market price will break records all around the globe!"
Wilhelmina couldn't stomach the rest of his words. She looked around at the smiling faces of the other guests and realized that she no longer had the desire to stick around.
Whenever Jack glanced at her, she could sense that he was looking down on her. It was as if he was making fun of her for the humiliation that was about to befall her.
She dashed out of the hall like her life depended on it, running all the way to the square before jumping into her car and speeding away.
The ones who escaped with her were the staff of Zenith Capital. They were part of the core team, so naturally, they had seen Jack before and were well aware of the deep animosity that existed between him and Wilhelmina.
They knew that they had to escape when the opportunity presented itself. They also had to consider how they were going to explain to the investors that they hadn't been able to secure a piece of Haven Net's pie.
There was no doubt that everyone would know that Zenith Capital had failed to establish a rapport with Haven Net. Their failure would in turn affect Zenith Capital's stock market price.
However, there was nothing the team could do. Their boss, Wilhelmina, was stubborn to a fault. She would have to face the consequences of her own actions.
Naturally, Jack had noticed that Wilhelmina and the Zenith Capital staff had disappeared from the hall, Their absence didn't bother him in the slightest. He had predicted this outcome, knowing that Wilhelmina would react as such after discovering the truth.
But even if she groveled at his feet and begged him, Jack wouldn't allow Zenith
Capital to own even a single unit of Haven Net's shares.
Wilhelmina may have escaped for now, but Jack hadn't forgotten their wager and the promise she had
made. He was a patient man. He would wait for the celebratory banquet for Tarthy City's general elections to humiliate her
им
accordingly.
The banquet proceeded as planned even after the Zenith Capital staff took their leave. Overall, it was a successful event.
Everyone was eager to provide Haven Net with more funds, which greatly boosted Jack's confidence regarding the company's future. As he had expected, once Haven Net became a public sted company, its stock prices would only continue to climb higher and higher.
The banquet eventually reached its end. However, Haven Net had also made arrangements to host a dinner in the evening, extending invitations to all the guests who were present.
The atmosphere was lively and raucous. Music filled the air as the people let loose on the dance floor.
As the founder of Haven Net, Jack was in the spotlight for the entirety of the night. He was surrounded by people who were tripping over themselves to give him a toast.
Swept up by the lively atmosphere, Jack downed every drink that was offered to him. He didn't order the staff to hold back on the liquor, so it didn't take long before he got completely intoxicated.
On the third day, Jack slept in till 11:00 am before stirring awake.
On the fourth day, when he finally regained full consciousness, he realized that he had half a dozen missed calls. They were all from Phoebe.
Wondering why Phoebe was trying to get in touch with him, he called her back. The dial tone only went on for two seconds before Phoebe picked up.
"Hey, beautiful. What's up? Sorry, I got a little drunk last night, so I didn't hear my phone ring," Jack explained.
"Who did you go drinking with? Aren't you afraid Feena would be worried about you if she finds out you got so wasted?" Phoebe asked.
