Chapter 939
Many male students would probably lose sleep that night. The white wine that was available for sale at the cafeteria would also probably fly off the shelves at an alarming rate. Everyone had their own speculations, wondering which man could have captured Phoebe's heart and her affections.
Jack and the other students in the studio were also staring at Phoebe with wide eyes. They were dumbfounded by the sudden discovery that Phoebe already had a man that she loved. However, what was even more surprising was how she had been willing to share what she had hidden in her heart with the public.
The atmosphere in the initially quiet studio turned chaotic in an instant. Everyone wanted to ask Phoebe about the identity of her crush. They assumed that he had to be an outstanding individual who was a perfect match for her.
A complicated expression flickered across Jack's face as bitterness welled in his heart. He should have known that Phoebe already had her heart set on someone else. He wondered who the lucky man was, to be able to become an unforgettable existence that was deeply ingrained in her heart.
But no matter who the man could be-whether he was an all-rounder or skilled in a particular field-Jack was convinced that it wouldn't be him.
Phoebe had never shown any special affection toward him. Furthermore, they had barely interacted during the two years she spent abroad after she decided to further her studies overseas. They would only occasionally chat on Haven Connect.
If she was in love with him, why would she be willing to be put so much distance between them? Why would she be willing to endure such a long stretch of silence?
Jack's heart felt hollow as he thought about the huge and unbridgeable gap that existed between Phoebe and himself. Although he already had Feena, who was a wonderful woman in her own right, Phoebe's words continued to reverberate in his
ears.
She had said that she would regret her decision for the rest of her life if she couldn't summon the courage to act on her feelings. She would regret letting what could have been slowly turn into an impossibility.
Her words resonated deeply with Jack because it was exactly what Jack was going through.
"Jack, what are you thinking about?"
Phoebe's gentle voice snapped Jack out of his thoughts.
He turned his head to see that she was staring at him with wide eyes. Her gaze was calm and natural.
Of course, Jack couldn't possibly let her know what he was thinking in his heart.
He smiled lightly before saying, "Nothing much. I was just wondering which lucky man was fortunate enough to capture your affections."
Phoebe returned his smile, but she didn't answer this question. Instead, she changed the subject.
"Since we are in the free section of the show, why don't you sing a song? I remember how lovely your song 'Time' is. Why don't you sing that?"
She could still remember clearly how Jack's song, "Time", had left a lasting impression on the citizens of Norhaven River. She believed that he would be able to deliver an even more wonderful rendition of the song now.
Jack hesitated for a moment before he nodded. He picked up the guitar again, strumming on the strings lightly before beginning to sing.
"Time flows like water while the tip of the pen kicks up tornadoes of sand. Our youth was like a dream, but we've gone on our separate ways—"
As he sang the familiar lyrics, Jack felt as if he had been transported back in time
when things were much simpler. He carried himself with elegance while on the stage, and his voice was magnetic.
Perhaps it was due to the fact that
graduation season was fast
approaching, or perhaps he was
being influenced by his feelings after finding out that Phoebe already had someone she loved, but Jacks performance was infinitely more moving than the other times he performed this particular song.
The students in the studio felt like they were drunk on his voice even after the song came to an end. To the side, Phoebe had also closed her eves, fully immersing herself in the world that Jack had created with his music.
Unable to hold back any longer, Winter heaped her praises onto Jack. "That was amazing! 'Time' isza song that I've listened to over and over again ever since it was
ve
released. It was such a shame when Sour suddenly disappeared from the music scene.
"It's amazing how similar your voice is to his. I almost thought that you were actually him! You're way too talented!"
Another female student, Gabriella Manzana, also chimed in with her own praises, "Actually, I think you sang the song even better than Soul did."
"Speaking of Soul, I was his fan in the past! He was a musical genius. It's such a pity that his star power fizzled out so quickly."
"I even defended him when the entertainment industry ousted him, but no one was willing to listen to me."
