Chapter 918
Nelson lit a cigarette with effortless flair and gestured for Jack to take the first shot.
Jack broke the formation cleanly; balls scattered across the table, but none were pocketed. It was Nelson's turn.
He quickly racked up a few points, a smooth ten or so, but a minor misstep handed the table back to Jack.
After a few exchanges, Nelson began to relax. So, this was it? Jack wasn't anything special after all.
Jack had already figured Nelson out. With a slight shift in focus, he decided to stop holding back.
Sorry. Maybe Jack used just a bit too much force. In a single, devastating turn, he cleared the table and gained 140 points in one go. A complete wipeout.
Nelson stared at the empty table, blinking in disbelief, wondering if he was hallucinating. He'd played snooker for a large part of his life, but he'd never seen anything like this. Not even seasoned pros played with this kind of precision. Watching Jack's graceful movements and the way he left him no openings, Nelson felt like he was up against a world-class master.
Wilhelmina was stunned too. She hadn't even considered the possibility that Nelson might lose, let alone be utterly humiliated.
Round two began.
This time, Jack knew he couldn't afford to play nice. His team's pride was riding on his shoulders. More importantly, he needed to shatter Nelson's confidence. So he focused again and scored 143 points in a single run, winning the second round in a landslide.
Nelson started questioning everything. Wilhelmina, too, was in disbelief.
Nelson's friends stood frozen, their faces pale. Some were so shaken that their voices began to tremble.
Two rounds in a row and both over 140 points? What kind of monster were they facing?
Nelson's hand trembled as he lined up his next shot.
Dear God. This was terrifying. Was there still a chance?
No, it had to be a dream, a trick of the mind. Nelson tried to psych himself up by encouraging himself. But reality was far less forgiving.
In the third round, Jack completely unleashed his skills. He didn't give Nelson any chance and landeda flawless 147 points ending the match in one sweep.
If Jack had been wearing a mask at that moment, Nelson might've genuinely
believed he was up against a professional snooker player.
Crushed. Utterly destroyed. This had to be some kind of nightmare.
Was Jack a professional player? But even the pros didn't play this well.
Wilhelmina's face had gone ghostly pale. She couldn't believe the man she had looked down on for so long was so good at snooker.
Gosh. What the hell was Jack made of? He had just forced Nelson-once hailed as a snooker prodigy-into an existential crisis.
But the humiliation wasn't over yet. Jack calmly set his cue stick down and turned to face them with a smile waiting for the defeated team to get on their knees and caphim "Daddy".
Neil stood beside him, hands on his hips, with a smug look.
Zane cleared his throat, ready to chime in with a loud reply the moment they followed through on the bet.
"Let's head to the cafe next door!"
Suddenly, Nelson let out a furious shout and snapped his cue stick in half with a sharp crack.
"We're leaving!" he barked, then
stormed out of the billiard hall with
his group in tow apparently forgetting all about the wagen they'd just lost.
How could Neil, Leo, Zane, and the others let them walk away so easily?
