Neil thought about it and said, "He's a close friend of ours, but I can't seem to figure out what could possibly be so important that my father needs to talk to him about."

Although Jack was capable, tough, daring, and skilled, Neil couldn't figure out what kind of connection he might have with Jason. Among all of them, only Mona had a vague idea why.

In the study, Jack and Jason sat across from each other.

Charlotte courteously poured Jack a cup of coffee and Jason a cup of tea. Then, she exited the study.

"I'm sorry for keeping you waiting, Jack. I had a meeting earlier. Some problems came up in the Newlight District, and I had to take full responsibility. Recently, I've been so knee-deep in work that I can't even get a good night's sleep," Jason said as he sipped his tea.

A trace of sorrow lingered between his brows.

Jack was unsure what Jason was struggling with recently, but Jason's willingness to share some of his issues with him showed that Jason trusted him.

Though it wasn't a heart-to-heart talk, there was a clear intent to draw him in.

Jack diverted the topic and said, "I was reading 'The Financial War' in the study. You have a comfortable place here, Mr. Grant. I was so engrossed that I was unwilling to leave."

"Jack, I know your relationship with Char and Neil, but you don't have to call me Mr. Grant. Call me Jason! I may be much older than you, but your success is enough for me to call you my peer," Jason said.

Calling him "Jason" felt more familiar, but Jack couldn't help feeling awkward. He thought calling him that when they were alone was fine, but saying it in front of Neil and Charlotte seemed too out of place.

Jason noticed Jack's hesitation and burst out laughing. "You can call me Jason when we're alone. I still need to maintain my authority as a father in front of my children."

Then, Jason placed his teacup down and handed Jack a box of cigarettes. "This is a special supply. Most can't get their hands on it. Try it and see if it suits your taste."

Jack accepted the cigarette without hesitation and took a long drag. Sure enough, it packed a punch.

And so, the older and younger man smoked together, chatting about cigarettes. Laughter sounded from time to time, and the two of them hit it off.

"Jason, if you like cigars, I'll ask someone to get some premium cigars from Cubo so that you can enjoy yourself," Jack said.

"Please don't. That's a symbol of capitalist decadence. I can't accept that. Just bring me a few packs-that'll do," Jason said with a hearty laugh.

Then, he added, "Seriously, I owe you one. You've been a huge blessing in my life First, you saved my brother, and now, a few Afrocan countries plan to establish diplomatic ties with us. That's all because of you!"

And it was true the decision of those nations to establish diplomatic relations carried major international significance. Jason received all the credit, increasing his credibility in his future political prospects.

Jason paused slightly and continued, "Jack, you should read more books like 'The Financial War.' At your level, any geopolitical movement would greatly affect your company."

As a multinational conglomerate valued at over a trillion dollars, Jack's company was already considered a worldwide dominant force in its industry.

Unless it made a catastrophic strategic blunder, the usual

movements of the sector posed little threat to its standing. Only major geopolitical shifts, particularly financial warfare between nations had the true potential to inflict damage on such a giant forerunner.
