Chapter 801
The granddaughter of the Lycan family, Tatiana Lycan, was sound asleep while resting her head on her boyfriend, Cory's, shoulder. It was Cory who gently patted her, waking her up. Then, he told her that Bella's boyfriend was an influential figure.
Tatiana rubbed her eyes, murmuring, "No way! How could it be the same person?"
Still groggy and half-asleep, it slipped her mind who Bella's legendary boyfriend was. Then, to her surprise, she realized that the man sitting at the podium, the one she hadn't dared to acknowledge moments ago, was actually her cousin.
That cousin was the countryside bumpkin, who was often mocked by their other cousins for being a bumpkin. It was the same person that Greta sneered at, saying he'd never measure up to the other men in the family. It was the same person the adults had written off as someone who would never amount to anything.
Even her grandmother used to say he might end up a delinquent and drag the Lycan family down.
Could it really be him? There was no way this was true.
Tatiana's jaw dropped at the sudden turn of events. Her eyes widened in surprise. Her emotions surged like a tidal wave, and she could barely contain herself.
Surprised, Cory looked at Tatiana. "What's with the big reaction? You're surprised, aren't you? I think it's amazing how Bella's boyfriend has changed so much. It's no surprise Bella would choose him. However, I don't think you need to be that surprised."
Tatiana shook her head and said, "No, I'm just dumbfounded. Do you know who he is?"
"Isn't he Bella's boyfriend?"
"I don't know if that's true, but I do know that he's my cousin." Tatiana's voice was tinged with pride as she spoke. After all, women cared about their image.
When Tatiana heard Jack was the loser who confessed his feelings to Bella with a bouquet of morning glories that night, she felt embarrassed and ashamed. But now, everything had changed. In her eyes, this third cousin of hers, once deemed a burden by the Lycans, had become the brightest pride of their entire younger generation.
Even her uncle, Quintis, didn't know this about Jack. Otherwise, he would have bragged about it a long time ago.
If Tatiana's memory did not fail her, Genesis Games had taken the world over by storm even before Quintis found Jack again.
Her cousin, wandering in the streets, could achieve his accomplishments today without her uncle's help in any form. It was extraordinary.
By comparison, even her own brother, Maverick, seemed dim beside Jack's brilliance. After all, Maverick's achievements came with the full weight of the family resources backing him. On the other hand, Knox's brag was downright laughable.
Tatiana couldn't help but feel slightly full of herself. So, when she mentioned her cousin, her tone was tinged with an unconcealed pride.
Cory widened his eyes and thought his ears were playing tricks on him.
He didn't know the Lycan family's standing, but knowing where Jack stood was enough to make this freshman feel tremendous pressure. ʀᴇᴀᴅ ʟᴀᴛᴇsᴛ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀᴛ find✦novel.net
Francesca and Bethany sat in the corner. Bethany held an unfinished drink in her hand, and out of habit, the straw was in her mouth. However, at this moment, their mouths were slightly open. They were unmoved.
The news dumbfounded them.
They stared at the young business genius on stage, recalling how they persuaded Bella to give up on this loser-boyfriend in the morning just to earn the promise of a small car from Hugo. How utterly childish that now seemed.
Why would Bella give up on him? They should have trusted Bella instead.
