Cynthia and Magdalene had been standing next to Jack. They had also been affected by the grandiose display that Hugo was putting on and had been thoroughly moved. Newest update provided by fιɴdnοvel.net

Magdalene couldn't help herself and addressed Jack, "Look how much effort he's putting in to pursue Bella. Not only does he have riches and connections, but he's also handsome and tall. He's got a good family background and is an excellent student at Lightfield University. Do you really think that you still have a chance with Bella?"

Jack didn't respond, but only because he had disappeared from their sights. Magdalene searched for him curiously before finally spotting him. He was busy putting together a bouquet of morning glories.

Surprised, Magdalene asked, "What are you doing?"

"I'm going to confess to Bella too later," Jack answered.

She looked at him with a dumbfounded expression. "You... You want to confess to Bella with those morning glories? Are you being serious?"

Meanwhile, Cynthia's jaw had gone slack, and she was convinced that her ears were playing tricks on her.

Jack looked utterly serious when he nodded. "I'll never know if I don't try. Who knows, I might even succeed!"

Magdalene thought that Jack was behaving rather shamefully while Cynthia thought that he was being quite funny.

With a smile, Cynthia said to him, "Alright. That's enough joking around. Just look at the confession that Hugo has prepared. Isn't it so romantic? Don't you feel pressured, needing to compete with that with your own confession?"

He nodded, but deep down in his heart, he was still unwilling to give up.

Magdalene questioned him in a haughty voice, "Do you think you have a chance?"

"Yes!" he answered determinedly.

She rolled her eyes helplessly at him, thinking that he was acting a fool.

The process of waiting often made a person antsy. While Jack looked as calm as an undisturbed surface of a lake, Hugo looked extremely anxious in comparison. He would shoot occasional glances toward the direction of Bella's dormitory, anticipating the appearance of her familiar silhouette.

His friends kept comforting him, assuring him that they had sent people to invite Bella to descend from the building. He only had to wait a little more before she would inevitably make her appearance. Although Hugo was confident that she would accept his confession, he was still very nervous, causing sweat to pour from every part of his body.

Suddenly, two women descended from the dormitory. They wore joyous expressions as they shouted at Hugo, "She's coming! Hugo, hurry up and get ready! Bella is descending the building as we speak!"

Chaos erupted on the scene in a flash. Some of the onlookers wolf-whistled while some hooted and hollered. Everyone was anticipating a heartwarming scene that would move their hearts.

Hugo felt his heart clench suddenly as he tightened his grip around the bouquet of

roses.

Jack, who was standing on the sidelines, also started to feel nervous. It had been a long time since he had seen Bella in person. He was also clutching onto his bouquet of morning glories in a death grip.

"Would I really be acting like a fool like Magdalene said if I confessed to Bella too?" he wondered to himself suddenly. "Would Bella treat me as nothing more than a passerby when she sees me? Would she go so far as to pretend that I don't exist?"

Noticing Jack's nervousness, Magdalene asked, "What are you getting so nervous for?"

"Of course, I'm nervous," Jack replied. "What will I do if she rejects my confession?"

Magdalene rolled her eyes again. She was rendered speechless by Jack's foolish behavior.

She suddenly came to a realization-if Jack failed miserably and was forced to make a quick escape during Hugo's confession, wouldn't he turn into the hot topic in all the universities' discussion forums?
