Chapter 1078
"No! That's impossible! Mr. Cadwallader has always been a man of integrity. How could he do something like that?"
"A man of integrity? Do you really think so?"
Peter's mood sank instantly, and his face clouded with despair.
Gerard's steep drop in the polls had clearly rattled him. If he failed to take office, their entire plan to bring down Elias and the Sandalwood Group would fall apart.
Watching Peter's despondent expression, Elias added, "By the way, something big happened at the Trevell Group. Peter, I'm guessing you haven't heard about it yet, have you?"
Peter asked nervously, "What happened?"
Words from Elias rarely boded well.
Sure enough, he began. "Your brother Allen came all the way back from overseas. Lately, your father's been taking him everywhere. Even the senior execs at the Trevell Group treat him with such respect. They barely even dare to breathe in front of him."
Peter's face changed dramatically. "What did you say?"
"Was I not clear enough? After you were arrested, Allen flew back in a hurry. You should know his motives better than we do."
Elias smiled faintly. "You're about to lose everything. If you don't want to be kicked out of the Trevell Group and left on the streets, work with us! We'll even help you get back what's rightfully yours."
Peter shook his head frantically.
"You lied to me! You're all in on this together, but i'm not that easily duped. You'll see! When I walk out of here, you'll pay dearly for this."
Peter wasn't stupid. He knew exactly why Allen had rushed back after his arrest. It had struck a nerve.
Elias shrugged helplessly. "Coincidentally, the lead attorney your father hired for you is waiting outside. Whether this news is true or not, you can ask him yourself."
Jack laughed and said, "Once you're sure of it and have made up your mind, feel free to come talk to us anytime. Our door is always open!"
"Get out!"
Peter was furious, convinced that these two were insulting him no matter what.
Even after Jack and Elias left, his anger still burned. But what worried him more was
the authenticity of the content Elias had shown him.
If Gerard was done for, then they were all doomed.
His gut told him Elias was lying—that
it was all fake news. But the bitter
truth was, the sources Elias had
pulled up were among Tarthy's most reputable media outlets. There was almost no chance they were fabricated.
And yet, that wasn't even the worst part. The real bombshell was the news about
Allen's return. Peter was almost certain-90% sure-it was true.
He knew Assen all too well. He was sleazy, shameless, vile, disgusting filthy and rotten to the core. In short, there
wasn't a single negative word that wouldn't fit him.
