Chapter 1047

Ignatius' tone was calm, but the determination was clear in his voice. He had openly declared his allegiance to Jack and was going to stand with Carpenter Corporation to oppose the Roe, Trevell, and Gould families.

A person who wielded incomparable authority in Tarthy City had decided to stand behind Elias. Along with the Godfather of Calisota's underground, Caspian, and the capital tycoon, Samuel and his entourage of Chopington's capitalists, Elias had gathered an incredible force to be reckoned with.

No matter how confident Patrick may be, he felt as if he might spit blood at any moment. He couldn't understand what was happening that night. Why had everything spiraled out of his control?

Patrick was only able to exert his influence in Tarthy, order the elites around as he pleased, as well as control most of Tarthy's upper class because he had four pillars that fed into his power.

The first pillar was that he had an immensely powerful figure supporting him behind the scenes. The second pillar was Winona's father, Gerard. The third pillar was Casey's father, the Godfather of Tarthy's underground, Ignatius. The fourth pillar was the Big Four of Tarthy City.

However, one of the pillars, the Godfather of Tarthy's underground, had defected to the other side and was now openly opposing him. Ignatius' actions wasn't just a blow to Patrick's reputation, but he was also announcing to everyone present that the Godfather of Tarthy's underground would not be biased toward Patrick just because Winona fancied him.

In the battle between Carpenter Corporation against the Roe, Trevell, and Gould families, the latter three may be wealthy, but their fortunes did not make them invulnerable. With Ignatius, the Chopington capitalists, and Caspian joining the fray, Elias' power had grown to an immeasurable degree.

In fact, it was likely that he wielded enough power to thoroughly crush the Roe, Trevell, and Gould alliance under his feet.

What made everyone scratch their heads in confusion was why Ignatius, who controlled nearly half of Tarthy's underground, had decided to stand behind Elias. What benefit could Elias possibly offer Ignatius that would sway such a formidable figure to his side? Everyone wondered about the reason for Ignatius' defection, but their hypothesis and deductions would not change reality.

Devin and Peter were completely stunned by Ignatius' stance on the situation. They were powerful figures in their own right in Tarthy City, but Ignatius was someone who even they did not dare cross Furthermore, they were currently engaged in a fierce battle with Elias, so they had no additional resources at all if they were forced to tackle Ignatius at the same time.

There was no way they could win if they were cornered this way. Thus, they turned their gazes to Patrick, hoping that he would lend them a hand. They would be incredibly grateful if he could just show them a way out of this mess.

However, Patrick would disappoint them. Although he still had a smile fixed on his face and acted as if everything was still under his control, the way he avoided their gazes told Devin and Peter everything that they needed to know-Patrick was also cornered and was helpless to do anything.

In other words, Patrick hadn't yet found a way to get them out of this mess. The most he could do at the moment was to look toward Casey. She was madly in love with him, perhaps he would be able to discern some clues from her gaze as to why Ignatius had decided to throw his support behind Elias.

However, it was Patrick's turn to be disappointed. Confusion was written all over Casey's face, making it clear that she had no idea why Ignatius had decided to help Elias. She didn't have a clue as to why Ignatius would abandon the man she was in love with to ally himself with the enemy.

As her gaze fell on Jack, who stood in the middle of the crowd, she was struck with an idea. Perhaps Ignatius decided to support Elias because he had been charmed by Jack. But how Jack had managed to convince Ignatius to give him his unconditional support, that was still a mystery to Casey.

Jett's expression had also morphed into one of intense regret. His regret stretched all the way back to when he had first laid eyes on Jack, when he had accompanied Elias to visit him in his home.

His heart had also begun its descent into his gut from the moment Jack moved to stand firmly in front of Elias, and to the moment when the alliance between the Chopington capitalists and Ignatius was formed, giving Elias incredible power.
