Carpenter Corporation was digging its own grave!

That was absolutely what most of the guests attending the gala were thinking. Although no concrete rules were set for tonight's charity gala, everyone who was anyone knew that the real star of tonight's show was Patrick.

No one was daring enough to go against Patrick, to steal his spotlight, but Elias had gone ahead and done just that! It seemed that there was some truth to the rumors that were circulating about the conflict between the Big Four was about to reach a boiling point.

Since everyone had turned on each other, Elias was the first to jump off the sinking ship. His plan must be to take advantage of Gerard's presence at the gala. Even if Elias was defeated during the upcoming battle against the other three, perhaps Gerard would be merciful enough to leave a path for him to survive once he recalled Carpenter Corporation's generous contribution toward charity.

Patrick and the others' attention were trained on Elias, but he remained as steady as a rock and seemed to be completely unphased by their gazes. The calmness that he commanded was not something that a regular person had.

Peter spat, "Damned mongrel! He's going to pay dearly for what he's doing!"

The Trevells had ended up coming in last among the Big Four in terms of their donation amount, which in turn made Peter feel as if his reputation had taken a heavy blow. What was most despicable to him was how Elias had gone ahead and donated 100 million dollars in one go!

What he just did was a slap to everyone's faces.

Peter was even more frustrated when he thought about how that large sum of money could have belonged to the Trevells and the Roes in the future when Carpenter Corporation met its end. He never thought that Elias would casually donate it all away. It was no wonder Peter was on the verge of popping a vein from how angry he was.

Finally, Peter said, "You're so generous for donating 100 million dollars, Peter. Carpenter Corporation must be doing well for itself. I just can't help but wonder if your company's revenue was earned through proper means.

"I've heard that the relevant departments are currently conducting an investigation into your company on suspicion of tax evasion!"

Sarcasm dripped from every single word that came out of Peter's mouth as he threw his accusations at Elias in front of everyone.

Elias only smiled when he replied, "What's happening in the Carpenter family has nothing to do with you. I have a big heart, so I'll donate as much as I want to. If

you're dissatisfied, you're welcome to donate even more than me!"

Devin butted in. "You must be trying to buy your way out. There's already concrete evidence that proves Carpenter Corporation has

committed tax evasion A case is going to be put together soon to investigate your company. You're just pretending to be generous now, aren't you?"

Elias rose to his feet smoothly and declared, "Carpenter Corporation is a righteous company that has always abided by the law, so we will never fear being investigated our *** company cannot be compared to certain someone who is shameless to a fault and constantly scheming nefariously. He has committed many crimes. Everyone knows that he violated the female celebrities in his company."

"What did you just say, motherfucker?" Peter's expression twisted as he shot up to his feet, furious.

Elias smiled. "Since you stood up, are you admitting that you're the 'certain someone' who did all of that?"

"Peter, don't act rashly!" Devin hissed when he realized that the reporters were aiming their cameras at them.

Peter had also realized that he had lost his composure. He shot a hateful glare at Elias before sinking back down onto his seat.

Devin said to Elias, "You claim that Carpenter Corporation does everything by the book, but you can't deny that the government is conducting an investigation into your company. Furthermore, Jett was the one who personally handed the evidence over to the relevant departments.

"Jett even said that he's unwilling to have the Gould family have any involvement with people who are unjust!"

Devin turned to look at Jett. He had a smile on his face when he asked, "Am I right, Jett?"

"Yes."

After a few moments of hesitation,

Jett steeled his nerves and stood up. What Devin just did was
