Chapter 971:

At that, I arched an eyebrow. The fierce look on my face dissolved into a sly grin. I glanced at the woman and Alden again, viewing them with disdain as if they were already dead.

“For now, you’re spared,” I stated dismissively before turning away to leave the cell.

As I left the prison, the soldier following me spoke again. “Evelyn is waiting in the living room.”

Hearing this, I increased my speed, heading quickly toward the Harrison family estate.

When I stepped into the living room, Evelyn was there, awaiting me politely. She bowed and greeted me as I entered, “Mr. Harrison.”

I strode to the front, sat down, and asked without delay, “What’s the new development? Have the princes taken your word?”

Evelyn nodded, affirming, “Yes, the princes have believed my words.” At her words, I felt overjoyed.

“Excellent!” I stood, moved toward Evelyn, and patted her on the shoulder in approval. “Once I’m in control of Marehelm, you’ll be rewarded by becoming Antoni’s partner. You’ll share in the wealth and prestige!”

“Thank… thank you, sir,” Evelyn murmured, lowering her head in gratitude, yet a hint of discomfort seemed to linger on her face. I scrutinized her more closely, noticing her lack of enthusiasm.

“What’s the matter? You don’t look thrilled. Don’t you want to be Antoni’s partner?” I asked in a deep voice, not taking my eyes off her for a second.

“It’s not that.” Evelyn seemed caught off guard by my words, waving her hands in panic. “I was… just so overwhelmed that I couldn’t immediately show my joy.”

I stared at Evelyn for a long time. Eventually, I saw genuine happiness, which eased my suspicions. “Alright, that’s good to hear.” Relaxing back into my seat, I shifted the conversation. “By the way, what are the princes planning to do about Alden?”

Evelyn answered carefully, “The three princes are still deliberating. However, based on their discussions and demeanor, they appear quite unhappy with Dayton. The issue with Alden could very well implicate him.”

“Hahaha!” I burst out laughing, thrilled by the turn of events. Fortune was indeed smiling on me! I would just wait and see how Dayton went against me now!

However, before my laughter subsided, Evelyn continued, “The three princes are likely to seek you out this afternoon to talk about Alden’s situation.”

I nodded, my grin widening into a smug, confident look. “Excellent! I’m eager to see how Dayton plans to contend with me this time!”

Makenna’s POV:

Cody’s arrogant silhouette dwindled into the distance, leaving a sour taste in the air. The three princes had already set their scheme into motion.

I turned to Alden beside me, resting a reassuring hand on his arm. “Alden, just stay here and don’t worry. Everything’s under control now.”

He gave a slight nod, his gaze filled with unwavering trust. “Alright, Ailyn, I’ll wait for you.”

I left the prison and rushed to the hotel, my heels clicking like the relentless ticking of a clock. Each step urged time to speed up. When I reached the luxurious suite on the top floor, I swung the door open, met by the comforting aroma of freshly brewed coffee. The three princes were huddled together, deep in conversation, their expressions sharpened by focus.

None of them seemed surprised or irritated by my arrival. Clayton’s eyes lit up, a delighted grin curving his lips as he approached me with his usual enthusiasm. “Makenna, what brings you here?”

I arched a brow, a playful smile tugging at my lips. “What? Am I not welcome?”
