Chapter 839
Chapter 839:
He couldn’t meet my gaze, his eyes fixed on some invisible point below.
“No!” I bit my lip until I tasted copper. “Her life holds the same worth as mine. I won’t abandon her.”
My declaration seemed to strike Jett like a physical blow, leaving him rooted to the spot.
Then inspiration struck like lightning. “Wait! What about those disguise potions you crafted? Do you have any left?”
A bitter laugh escaped Jett as he spread his hands in defeat. “If I did, don’t you think I would’ve used them during our palace escape?”
Makenna’s POV:
I stood frozen, Jett’s words piercing through my defenses.
Each breath felt heavier as I knew how often I’d dragged both him and Grace into my messes.
Jett broke through my thoughts, leaning closer with keen interest. “Makenna, do you even know how to properly use your healing abilities?”
“Honestly, it’s embarrassing,” I admitted with a wry smile. “These powers? Pure accident. Even using my blood to save you today was just desperate instinct. I wasn’t sure it would work.”
Hope crept into my voice as I met his gaze. “You knew my mother. Could you teach me to control this?”
“I really don’t know,” Jett replied, shaking his head.
His response felt like the final straw, extinguishing the flicker of hope within me. A wave of frustration overwhelmed me, as if I were trapped in a maze with no exit, walls closing in from every direction.
Jett sighed, his expression heavy with unspoken thoughts. “This is something only the white wolf clan would know. If only there was a white wolf to guide you. But unfortunately…”

He paused, a look of sorrow clouding his eyes. “Unfortunately, the white wolf clan has been wiped out. You’re probably the only one left.”
Hearing this, a spark of excitement lit up my eyes, and I nearly jumped up from where I sat. “No, there are other white wolves as well!”
“What?” Jett’s brow furrowed in confusion, his voice tinged with disbelief. “What other white wolves? What are you talking about?”
“It was Dominic who told me,” I said, my voice trembling with barely contained excitement. “He spoke of a mysterious prison, buried deep within the werewolf forest’s depths, where survivors of our white wolf clan remain captive!”
Jett’s eyes widened, a mix of disbelief and hope crossing his features. “Are you certain? This could change everything!”
“Dominic wouldn’t deceive me,” I declared, conviction burning in my words.
“This is extraordinary!” Jett’s fists clenched with renewed purpose, his voice rising with enthusiasm. “The forest isn’t far from here. If we can free these white wolves, Grace’s salvation becomes more than just a distant hope!”
Without further delay, we sprang into action and bought a small boat from a villager, our hearts racing with newfound purpose. The gentle waves guided our small boat across the vast expanse of the sea as we watched the fishing village shrink into a distant memory behind us. Days and nights blended together as we navigated the rolling waters. Sleep came in fitful bursts, our minds too consumed with thoughts of rescue. Finally, through the morning mist, we caught our first glimpse of the nearest city, Marehelm.
Makenna’s POV:
The landscape of Marehelm unfurled like a painted scroll—an endless, shimmering sea stretched northward, jagged mountains cascaded west in an unbroken chain, and to the east lay the enigmatic realm of the Wizard Clan.
