Chapter 1324:

Without waiting for an answer, Colt turned to the king, his tone hard as steel. “Father, she’s a white wolf. She must be executed. If we delay, Jett will only interfere!”

The king seemed to snap out of his reverie at Colt’s words. His trembling hand reached out to me, then dropped limply to his side. “She truly is Josie’s daughter,” he muttered, grief rippling through his voice. “Those eyes… just like Josie’s…”

Josie? Was he talking about my mother?

A shock ran through me, questions spinning in my head like autumn leaves in a gale.

But the king had already closed his eyes, his worn face etched with sorrow and conflict.

“Your Majesty!” Lucian pressed him again.

The king’s murky gaze slid open, a glimmer of finality sparking within. “Take her away… and execute her,” he commanded.

His decree crashed over me like a wave of icy water. Lucian’s face drained of color. He parted his lips to protest but fell silent, bowing his head.

As two guards stepped forward to seize me, chaos erupted beyond the hall. The massive doors burst open. A guard, soaked in blood, staggered inside, barely able to stand.

“Your Majesty! Your Majesty!” he gasped, sinking to his knees, blood trickling down his chin. “Prince Jett… He’s breaking in! We can’t hold him back…”

Makenna’s POV:

Jett had arrived?

The thunderous crack of the doors swinging open sent my heart lurching, my head snapping toward the entrance as the echo trembled through the hall like a coming storm.

Jett strode in like a tempest made flesh—his eyes burning with rage, his jaw clenched tight. The guards flanking the entrance stiffened, none daring to intercept him.

In a heartbeat, he was before me. His gaze landed on the two soldiers pinning me down, and the fury in his eyes turned lethal.

“Get away from her!” he barked, launching a savage kick that sent one soldier sprawling while the other scrambled backward. Then, like a crashing wave softening at shore, his hands cupped my face with startling tenderness.

“Are you hurt?” he asked, his voice low, barely tethered to calm.

I shook my head, lips trembling but no words forming.

A roar shattered the fragile silence. “How dare you!”

The king’s fury boomed across the chamber, shaking the chandeliers above until crystal droplets chimed against one another like anxious bells. He gripped the armrests of his throne as if to rise, but his legs gave way, and he collapsed back with a thud that echoed of power long eroded.

“Jett!” he thundered. “Do you even see me as your father anymore?”

Colt seized the moment like a vulture scenting blood. “Father, look at him!” he said, gesturing toward Jett with a dramatic sweep of his arm. “He’s casting aside royal dignity for a woman.”

His venom turned on me next, his stare like ice dragged across skin. “Who knows what wicked sorcery this so-called Saint of the white wolf clan has used to ensnare him? If this goes on, it will be our downfall.”

But Jett didn’t spare him a glance. With one smooth motion, he pulled me behind him, shielding me with the quiet promise of violence for anyone who dared approach.
