Chapter 1268:

When I blinked the glare away, I saw it. A small scepter floated before me.

Its top held a radiant blue crystal orb, and inside it, a swirl of stars shimmered—an entire galaxy suspended within. The shaft was engraved with ancient werewolf runes, softly glowing like whispers in the dark. It had to be the sacred artifact.

It hovered weightlessly, rotating ever so slowly, leaving a delicate trail of stardust in its wake.

With a trembling hand, I reached out. The scepter fell into my grip as though it had been waiting for me all along.

Warmth surged up my arm, wrapping around my chest, dissolving the poison in my blood like morning sun on frost. My wound sealed over in seconds. I felt whole again. Strong.

The scepter pulsed gently in my grasp, alive and aware—responding to me.

“Yes.” I clutched it tightly, feeling the returning strength in a rush.

With it, we could definitely fight back against Leonardo!

But the moment of triumph shattered like glass. Dominic. He was still out there. Still missing.

I turned to leave—but froze. Footsteps. Dozens of them, storming through the corridors of the cemetery.

Then they burst in—soldiers, flooding the chamber like a tide. Every exit was blocked.

My heart lurched. They wore dark purple armor, each chestplate emblazoned with the coiled serpent of the Wizard Clan.

The Wizard Clan? Here?

I stumbled back, my spine pressing against the cold wall. My grip on the scepter tightened.

How could they be here—in the sacred heart of werewolf territory?

Then a chilling voice sliced through the chaos. “Makenna!”

The crowd parted like an army parade. And there he was—Antoni.

Cloaked in black, his face looked rugged with cruelty as he cracked that thin smile. “This place…” he said, stepping into the chamber, “will be your grave.”

Dominic’s POV:

I had managed to draw the Iron Scale Guards away from the cemetery and into a wide, open patch of ground not far off.

A dozen guards, decked out in heavy armor, closed in around me. They moved with quiet menace, like snakes ready to lash out at the first twitch.

“Your Highness, you’d best surrender,” the head of the group said, lifting his chin with a cocky grin. “His Majesty is merciful; maybe he’ll let you live.”

A harsh, growling laugh burst from deep in my chest, slicing through his words. “Cut the crap!”

Before the echo of my voice even faded, I felt the wolf inside me surge. My skin split open as thick, bristly fur forced its way out, and my fingers twisted, sprouting deadly claws. In less time than it took to blink, I’d morphed into a hulking beast—a wolf, savage and towering.

“AWOOO!”

My ears rang as the piercing howl bounced off the cliffs, shaking the valley, while I lunged at the closest guard like a bolt from the blue.

My fangs clamped down on his neck, ripping it open. Hot blood splashed onto my fur, steaming in the cold air.
