Chapter 1220
Chapter 1220:
Sensing my rising urgency, Clayton took his time, lavishing my nipple with tender, relentless care until it throbbed, hypersensitive beneath his tongue and lips. He then shifted his mouth to the other breast.
“Slow down… please… slow down…” I whispered between shallow pants, overwhelmed by the surging pleasure washing over me.
Clayton’s thrusts filled me completely, each movement sending shuddering waves through my core. And then, without warning, his pace quickened, his hips driving harder, deeper, each thrust sending sparks cascading through my body. The wet sounds of our union echoed softly in the steamy space, a rhythm that grew faster, hungrier, more desperate.
I clung to him, my fingers digging into his back as the heat coiled tighter, building higher, until I shattered with a cry, my release crashing over me in an overwhelming wave. Clayton followed moments later, groaning against my skin as he buried himself deep, a comforting warmth flooding inside me.
He remained within me, his hips pressed firmly against mine, unwilling to let go. His voice came soft and rough beside my ear, his breath warm.
“Makenna… would you give me a child?”
Filled with a haze of sensation, the weight of his love and his length still deep inside me, I could only cling tighter, my words lost beneath the rapid thrum of my heartbeat.
Clayton carried me from the shower, our bodies still intimately joined, unwilling to sever the connection between us. He lowered me gently onto the bed.
Makenna’s POV:
Things in Marehelm were rapidly spiraling out of control. The unrest in the city was only growing worse. Even though we tried everything to restore peace—even bringing in the military to keep things in check—the citizens, stirred up by troublemakers, saw us as enemies. They called us traitors.
One night, I found myself alone atop the city wall. The chill of the evening air brushed against my skin, sending a cold shiver through me. Far off, the glow of Leonardo’s campfires burned brightly. The scattered lights stood out sharply against the dark sky. As I stared at the flickering flames, a heavy feeling crept into my chest.

“You’re really here,” Dominic’s voice called out from behind me, and I felt a coat settle over my shoulders.
I turned to face him. Under the moonlight, his usual calm seemed softened, and his eyes showed genuine worry.
Dominic looked at me and asked in a quiet voice, “Are the riots still weighing on you?”
I gave a small nod and let my eyes drift back to the flickering fires in the distance. With a weary sigh, I said, “We can’t just sit on our hands anymore. The citizens have turned against us, and Leonardo’s army looks ready to pounce. We need to do something—fast.”
Dominic’s gaze grew darker, and without a word, he pulled me into a comforting hug. “We still haven’t managed to track down those agitators,” he said quietly.
“Do you think someone’s pulling their strings?” I asked, trying to make sense of it all. “I can’t wrap my head around it. Things were finally starting to calm down.”
He gave my shoulder a gentle pat, steadying me. “If it’s too much to figure out now, don’t push yourself. I’ve got your back—and I’ve already put people on the trail.”
Once his voice faded into silence, I finally lifted my gaze to meet his. He bent down and pressed a gentle kiss to my forehead.
