Chapter 1181
Chapter 1181:
As I stood among this cascade of elegance, my eyes roamed the dresses, a blend of excitement and melancholy tightening my chest.
These gowns stirred memories of a wedding that never happened—and the dress I had chosen with such care for myself.
That dress was meant to mark my love for Frank, but in the end, my stepsister, Jessica, wore it instead.
The memory pierced me with a bittersweet ache.
Dominic sidled up, draping an arm around my shoulder with easy affection. “Makenna, if any dress catches your eye, it’s yours. Try it on.” His offer startled me, and before I could respond, Bryan marched over, nudging Dominic’s hand away.
“I’ll be the one buying Makenna’s wedding dress,” Bryan declared, a smug grin spreading across his face.
The air sparked with tension, their rivalry reigniting like a struck match.
Caught in the crossfire, I felt utterly at a loss.
As I started to speak, Clayton stepped forward, presenting a gown to me.
“Makenna, what do you think of this one? It’s the shop’s finest, and I had a hunch it would be perfect for you.”
My eyes fell on the dress, and I couldn’t help but pause in awe. It was stunningly refined, with delicate diamonds shimmering across its snowy fabric, the layered skirt flowing like a meadow of blooming lilies—elegant yet alive.
Seeing my admiration, Clayton’s smile warmed. “I knew you would love it. Want to try it on?”
A flush crept up my face, hesitation tugging at me. “But… we’re here for Alice’s dress. It feels selfish to try one on.”
Bryan jumped in, his tone firm. “Makenna, do it. Try the dress.”

Dominic nodded in support. “We’ll help Alice, but you should see yourself in a gown.”
Clayton gently placed the dress in my hands. “Makenna, don’t hold back. Go try it.”
Their collective encouragement left me flustered, my cheeks burning. With a deep breath, I took the gown and headed toward the fitting rooms.
Makenna’s POV:
I grasped the beautiful wedding dress and stepped into one of the fitting rooms.
As I was about to pull up the zipper, it jammed.
I tried a few times, but it wouldn’t budge.
“Hello? Can anyone help me with the zipper?” I called out in frustration, hoping someone outside could assist. But there was no reply.
I felt uneasy, furrowing my brow. I called again, “Is anyone there? I could really use some help here.” Still, no response.
Feeling defeated, I was about to step out and search for someone when, out of nowhere, a hand smoothly pulled up the zipper.
“Thank you,” I sighed in relief, speaking without thinking.
But when I turned around, I found Dominic standing behind me, staring at me with a fixed gaze.
I froze, my face turning bright red. “Dominic? Why did you come in here? I thought it was a sales assistant.”
Dominic stayed still for a moment before taking a step toward me. His voice, rich and captivating, broke the silence.
