Chapter 1120
Chapter 1120:
Connolly trembled, and beads of sweat from his forehead dripped onto the floor.
“I…” he stammered.
I slammed my fist on the arm of my chair and angrily said, “If you dare lie to me, I will have your tongue cut from your mouth!”
Connolly, unable to hold himself upright anymore due to the fear he was feeling, collapsed to the floor.
A lengthy silence followed. Just as I was about to lose my patience, he finally spoke in a voice that was barely audible.
“I had guessed that Makenna was not an ordinary werewolf. Because her mother… her mother was not an ordinary werewolf. However, it was when I heard about the revelation of Makenna’s identity that my suspicion was confirmed. She’s… a white wolf.”
I frowned at this.
Something about what Connolly said didn’t sound right.
“Isn’t Makenna your real daughter? Who is her real mother?” I asked.
Connolly began to shake again. When he finally calmed a little, he said, “Makenna is not my biological daughter, Your Majesty.”
“Keep talking,” I ordered as rage began to build up within me.
Head bowed, Connolly began to tell a story that started a long time ago.
Leonardo’s POV:
From Connolly’s fragmented account, I pieced together the ghostly outline of a truth long buried in time. A daring thought crystallized in my mind.
Could it be… Makenna was that man’s child?
The realization nearly shattered my composure. Shock and disbelief churned within me, my heart hammering against my ribs like a caged beast.

I shot to my feet, palms slamming against the table, and transfixed Connolly with an icy, penetrating stare. My voice cracked with barely contained urgency as I demanded, “Connolly, what did Makenna’s mother look like? Speak!”
Connolly recoiled at my sudden outburst, his throat working nervously before he stammered, “She… she appeared ordinary, but… but possessed an extraordinary presence. She moved with grace and seemed almost unearthly, as if untouched by the mundane world.”
“Graceful and almost unearthly?” My suspicion sharpened to a knife’s edge, pulse thundering in my ears.
Could it be Josie?
Years ago, I had dispatched countless men to hunt her down. I was staggered to discover she had been within my reach the entire time.
And she had even given birth to Makenna!
But Josie was a white wolf. How could she have died?
Venom laced my words as I fixed Connolly with a look of undisguised rage. “Connolly, you killed Makenna’s mother, didn’t you? Why did you kill her?”
Terrified by my reaction, Connolly crumpled to the floor, his body trembling as he whispered in a voice barely audible, “Your Majesty… Back then, I… I suspected that Makenna’s mother might be a white wolf. I acted out of self-preservation…”
“Self-preservation?” I narrowed my eyes, dissecting his quivering form with cold suspicion.
